Works ... moreYes, I was actually supposed to buy the higher end tab S6 but the under display fingerprint scanner turned me off. I've had 3 phones with optical underdisplay fingerprint scanner and they do work flawlessly when they work. But for still some unknown reason, they sometimes give me repeated several false rejections. It can really be annoying at times when you have to repeatedly enter your password. I have/had 3 phones with it (optical underdisplay fingerprint scanner) and it's usually the same problem: occasional repeated false rejections. The old tech fingerprint scanner placed at the back or side like in the tab S5e still is a much faster and more reliable authentication method. It doesn't have 'tantrums' like the widely used optical underdisplay fingerprint scanners.

However, they don't realize that the bad software support is exactly the reason why. Hardware wise the Tab S5e is a little better than the cheapest iPad (except for storage type and chip) but software two years vs. five years is the main problem. Android is just so much more flexible but only two major updates is bad.

If you just bought your tab S5e last month (June 2020) and got the android 10 update this month (July 2020), it's simply a coincidence the June update happened a month after. I assure you, it's not monthly updates for midrange Samsung devices like the tab S5e. It's quarterly just as Samsung posted on its website.

I have to say the fingerprint scanner has amazed me. Works first time always. The display and sound is great on this tablet. Great for watching movies and listening to music. And with Andriod 10 even better with extra added features. Personally for me, this tablet is very good. Thats my honest opinon on it:)

Do not ACUSE me of lying on this forum.. it will get monthly update as device isn't even two yrs old. As for the problems your havimg then you should have took it back instead of complaining! Even my tab A got monthly updates for 2yrs. Because you have a problem with this tablet dont force it on to someone else. Again you get your facts right before throwing accusations. And stop ranting to me. Do not rely to my comment.

There was even a bug right out of the box; After setting it up it froze and you had to force a restart. Guess when that was fixed, a month later. Galaxy Buds and Wearable app was also not supported for four to six months after launch. No need to praise bad software support! I know Samsung sucks at updates but this never received good enough support since day one...

Samsumg have been good with updates which is great for thier tablets and phones. This tablet is running smooth after updating 10 2.1. I like the extra features. And I'm.glad my tab A got it to. Good on Samsung!

Anonymous, 13 Jul 2020This only receives quarterly...This tablet will keep receiving monthly updates for two yrs and then quarterly. Galaxy tab A 2018 still gets the updates. Infact July security came with Andriod 10 on Tab A. So we will probably get july security update sometime this month for yab s5e.

Android 10 update with OneUI 2 and June 2020 security patch is currently rolling out for the tab S5e. Finally, a universal dark mode switch and many other improvements.

I strongly advise getting the 6gb ram option instead of 4gb. I have Youtube, Samsung Internet 3-4 tabs, Amazon Shopping open and Apps reload like crazy. Processor is fast so it doesn't bother me that much but it still shows how outdated 4gb ram is.

Added full screen gestures. New navigation Gestures, music share , quick share screen recorder calls and texts to.any device. Trash can for contacts, and my files. Dark mode enhanced images, text, and colour adjustments for day and night. Darken wallpapers , widgets and alarms while dark mode is on. Few more. Its running really smooth.
