sR, 22 Sep 2019Does anyone have an opinion on this (or cheaper Tab A) on c... moreI normally don't use a 10.5" tablet to take videos because it's heavy and bulky, tiring your hands easily, making the video stabilization a nightmare. You'd be better off with using a smartphone for taking videos and stabilizing the phone with a gimbal for smooth, stable videos. However, since you asked about video quality, the tab S5e takes very good and detailed footage in daylight but in lower light levels, you lose details resulting to a softer footage which will not be good for fast action coverage. This is based on my experience with the default camera app on the tab S5e which has ZERO manual controls with everything in full auto (chosen by the camera).
However, if you know your photography/videography basics, I'd suggest you download Open Camera app and use it instead of the default Samsung camera app. Open Camera is free with no ads. It has manual controls which Samsung decided to not include in the default video recording app. In low light, use Open camera app with Camera2Api enabled so you can select an ISO setting and adjust white balance an exposure (which the built in app cannot do) I suggest to not go higher than ISO 40 while ensuring shutter speed is no faster than 1/30s. Frame rate should be no more than 30fps in low light and even 24fps for lower light still, for better video quality. It will produce much better lower light videos quality than the default 'full-auto only' camera app.

Does anyone have an opinion on this (or cheaper Tab A) on capturing video in lowish light conditions inside?
Thanks

Anonymous, 21 Sep 2019Reported by a Samsung worker... You just lying shamelesly,... moreThe king of tablets you mean? The inutile iPad that can't even expand internal storage up to 1 TB forcing you to buy higher storage at obscene prices? The dumb iPad with Wifi only that doesn't even have a screen that comes remotely close to the gorgeous Amoled display in this 'half the price' Samsung tablet with LTE? (An iPad with LTE costs insanely even more!) The jurassic iPad that doesn't even allow seamless file transfers and file sharing to and from Windows PC's and many other accessories, thumb drives, external store and peripheral devices? You are proud of the overkill, (largely superfluous for 99% of tablet users) ultrafast bionic processor equipped iPad that doesn't even offer a superb multimedia experience with AKG tuned, Dolby Atmos sound quality from four, yes, that's f-o-u-r high quality speakers? The iPad you say that doesn't even allow the simplest of customizations and flexibility like the Samsung tab's DEX mode or an equivalent desktop mode with multiple windows open for true multitasking and productivity? An iPad that can't even wirelessly mirror its screen to smart TV's without resorting to a wired dongle or an overpriced Apple TV accessory? Please do more research next time. A super powerful processor that is locked up in a jurassic, restrictive and suffocating system called a 'walled garden' which actually is more like a walled prison is just that: A worthless piece of junk meant for just bragging rights and for kids. Only 1% of iPad users actually do some productivity work on it, but still 99% of the time its for media consumption, which gives you a truly inferior experience compared to this cheap Samsung tablet that costs less than half the iPad Pro.

You just lying shamelesly, even iPad Air 2 may easily destroy this crap.
You are comparing this huge calculator with iPad Pro, which kills Tab S6 by any means.
As an Note 9 owner, I hate Apple products and never used any of them but dude...
iPad is undisputed king of Tablets.
And if you call 400 euro is cheap for this, you certainly work for Samsung.

I mean Application performance class - A2 and Video performance class - V30. The traditional classification scheme: Class 2, Class 4, Class 8 and Class 10 are no longer used.

jayhawks8, 17 Sep 2019Just Recently bought a Tab S5E, I don't understand why it's... moreI don't have your lag issues. Maybe because I use fingerprint unlock. The tablet itself is very smooth and responsive. Check that your Power mode is not set on to 'Maximum power saving'. Have it set to 'Optimized' or disabled altogether. You can also go to Settings - Apps (tap three dots at the upper right) - Special Access - Optimize Battery Usage. Tap 'Apps not Optimized' and tap 'All'. Turn off optimization for each app you don't want throttled/slowed down to save battery. You can turn off EVERYTHING for the most fluid user experience (more fluid than Apple's iOS). Also, on the same 'Special Access' menu, Disable 'Appear on Top' for apps that don't want to have a screen overlay. For a start, you can disable/turn it off for all apps then turn on only when the app asks for that permission. If you are using micro sd storage, make sure it is at least Class 2, V30 and bought from reputable sources as cheap fake ones cause lagginess and other problems in an otherwise snappy tablet.

One more thing: No Wi-Fi signal problem at all with this tab. All reports and YouTube videos you see of it, if it really does exist are HUGELY exaggerated. I've noticed on mine a noticeable Wi-Fi signal reduction only when I'm separated by the Wi-Fi hotspot with a thick wall (in another room) and only more than 20 ft away and only when I tightly cover the wifi antenna portion tightly with my hand vs. normally handling it with both hands. It's seriously a non-issue anything you read about it as being a huge issue is more often than not, a placebo effect or just plain OC-ness. If you're at all concerned, just buy the LTE version or move closer than 20ft to the hotspot/wifi source or upgrade your router. Really, it shouldn't be so big an issue IF IT ACTUALLY EXISTED.
Now my REAL ISSUE with the tablet has more to do with the nasty color shift and screen burn in/longevity of Amoled displays vs. IPS. Also, IPS looks noticeably sharper than Amoled for the same screen resolution and doesn't have the nasty color shifts on white backgrounds (from yellowish or pinkish white to bluish or greenish white) upon tilting of the display forward-backward or left-right. VERY FEW Amoled displays have negligible or very little color shifts. Majority have noticeable color shifts which many people adjust to in a while. As for mine, I have to tweak the tablet color settings from the default factory settings to reduce the color shift to something I don't notice anymore (it's still there but it already matches the most uniform amoled panels out there which I've read is less than 20% for phones and likely even less for big screen tablets). Anyway, my settings to avoid noticing the color shift on white backgrounds in my tab S5e are as follows: Screen mode: Adaptive display. White balance: full to the right - 100% warm. Advanced settings: Red: 0%, Green: 100% Blue:100%. You may try different settings in your tab s5e using these settings as baseline. YMMV.

The best android tablet right now. Much better than the cheapest iPad Pro for half the price or even less than half. Loud, excellent quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, beautiful Amoled display, long battery life, accepts 1 TB micro sd cards, Widevine L1 certified so offline movie downloads get played at full HD. DEX mode is excellent too! Tablet allows both wired and wireless connections to smart TV. Just use DEX mode if you use wired connection for sending video out from Netflix offline download to TV so video doesn't get resized (common problem when device is at an aspect ratio other than the TV standard of 16:9).
A word of warning for Google Play Movie users: For wireless mirroring of Google Play Movies, don't update the tablet's built in Google Play Movies app. The newest Google play movie app version disables wireless screen sharing and also disables wired screen sharing so that you will be forced to buy a Chromecast. If you have accidentally updated Google Play Movies app, just uninstall it and it should revert back to the older factory version. Disable auto update to avoid Playstore from updating automatically your Google Play Movies app and other apps. (You can manually update the other apps).

Behruoz, 30 Aug 2019This is really a junk product and Samsung service is a nigh... moreI guess you took this via online, because if you buy it in store you will never face this issue. If u taken it from lets say noon, amazon etc, the seller warranty is still applicable for a year, they may either repair or replace your tablet.

The tablet works well in standalone mode but, as evidenced by VERY MANY internet complaints, its WIFI reception (speed) is abysmal - I get only 72Mbps on 2.4Ghz and there are VERY MANY reports that the 5Ghz antenna is placed where most primates would put their fingers to hold the tablet - in landscape mode, which blocks reception of the 5Ghz signal, which in the best of situations has poor capability to propagate over long distances or physical obstacles such as walls.
SAMSUNG has been promising a patch to fix these problems
--- I wonder when, seeing they are already aggressively promoting the Note 10 and Galaxy TAB S6 ---
(how do you move an antenna inside the case with a patch?)

I bet most of the "owners" are hired haters from competition. S5e is WONDERFUL product with great price. Just go to Apple Store, play with iPad Pro for a while, then go to Samsung store, play with S5e, then compare prices. Yes, iPad is twice the price for worse specs, except cpu. But if you don't run bitcoin miner, you dont need faster cpu. Rather longer battery life.

This is really a junk product and Samsung service is a nightmare. I bought one few days ago and after one day tried to update it, but it died in the middle of the update. The product was distributed by Samsung Bulgaria sold in the middle east. I took it to Samsung service center in Dubai to repair and they said it must be sent to Bulgaria by me to use warranty or I have to pay about 60% of the price for repair. Never buy any product from Samsung, never trust their service and I will never buy anymore any product of Samsung.
