Another samsung ripoff

        its a shame you can not use this tablet as an external monitor for this lots of money.

              Anonymous, 12 Sep 2023I am surprised that the Tab S8 Ultra is not mentioned at al... moreI think it's not mentioned because of dramatic differences not just in performance but also features. I had the S8+ (same specs as S8 Ultra), upgraded to S9 Ultra. Got more in cashback for the S8+ than what I paid for it (because I also got a free Watch5 with S8+ purchase). Pretty crazy. Now with the S9 Ultra I see huge differences - not just because of the screen :). I wouldn't recommend anyone getting the S8 series at this point, the differences are just too large to ignore.

              And one more thing about the lower price you mention that will supposedly happen in a few months. Prices might not fall, it's not the 2015 Samsung anymore when device price dropped 30% after a few months. Now they usually keep the price the same, the only thing that changes is freebies or cashback offers. When you combine stuff, you get the best possible price with a pre-order. I got the 65W charger, enlarged cashback above the standard (which is already big) because of pre-order, free insurance, 10% back from total amount in Samsung credit and 50% discount on accessories. And like I said, I got more for the S8+ than what I paid for it and I got to keep the free Watch5 (I actually sold it because I'm happy with Watch3). Now you tell me how the Tab S9 Ultra will be significantly cheaper in a few months? I doubt they'll beat this pre-order deal in any way.

                I am surprised that the Tab S8 Ultra is not mentioned at all in the review, as it is more or less the same tablet with last year's processor, which is still powerful enough, and less RAM (12 vs 8). All the other spects are almost identical. It's approx. 30% cheaper and in my view the go-to large productivity tablet until the price of the S9 Ultra drops in a few months.

                      I don't actually like anything not pure android. Too many bloating apps that we cannot uninstall/disable.
                      I think 12G of RAM is barely enough because when it just starts, no user apps running yet, the RAM use is already 4.6G.

It's a useful feature, and Google Pixel phones for example show other things as well like the date, the temperature, the weather, the battery capacity and what song is being played by other devices (Google's Now Playing feature, essentially a lightweight Shazam that doesn't cause the battery to drop more than 1% during the day). Assuming Google could make an OLED variant of their Google Pixel Tablet next year, AOD would work well with the detachable magnetic stand, showing you all sorts of useful information on a big screen.
