Finally Here! Marshmallow has come to the Tab S.
My Tab S 10.5 LTE auto updated to Marshmallow yesterday. I purchased my device without a carrier, so I don't know when those with carriers will get the update.

Tab S is too old to recieve Marshmallow update. Also Samsung Mobile NL said there's no update for Tab S. Samsung won't support their old devices forever, deal with it.

Samsung has officially confirmed that tabs both models 8.4 and 10.5 will not receive marshmallow
Such a powerful device should have atleast been provided with 5.1.1 atleast !

No doubt its the best Android Tab in market since more then 2 years but Samsung put it to shame when they released 5.1.1 for their 3 years older model P601 3 months ago but still nothing beyond 5.0.2 for this high-end and very expensive and beautiful Tab

I'm also waiting for the android 6 release for the tab s 10.5 lte.
I don't recommend buying the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE, because it is a two years old tablet. And as you may have seen by this thread we are still waiting for android 6 to be released. Just to be clear, the Tab S was the premium high end Tablet from Samsung released in 2014, so just two years ago. Android 6 was released by google in October 2015 and is still not available on this device.
So buy the Tab S2 9.7. But to be honest I wouldn't recommend this either because you are then going to wait for the android 7 update for sure. Getting an android update is not only because of having new features but for safety reasons. This is why Samsung announced a couple of month ago that they will provide monthly security updates. But I myself only got like two. So this is how they care about updating their devices, not very much i would say.
So instead of buying Samsung have you considered others manufactures like Google with their pixel c tablet? Updates for this device shouldn't be a problem. Our you can look out for devices that support custom roms such as cyanogen mod.

I have email confirmation from Samsung Germany that they are currently testing Android 6 on the Galaxy Tab S.
Here is their answer to my inquiry.
"Dear Mr. (redacted)

Actually our software developer are testing the Android 6 Marshmallow firmware on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE. At that stage we can not mention detailed information or a fix date for the roll out of the update. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
