Samsung Galaxy XCover8 Pro battery certified with higher capacity

The Galaxy XCover7 is one of the few remaining Samsung phones with a removable battery – it's a rugged phone that has found its niche. Safety Korea certified the battery for its successor, which will be called the "Samsung Galaxy XCover8 Pro," and provided a photo of it plus some details

The battery, EB-BG766GBY, has 4,265mAh rated and 4,350mAh typical capacity. That’s 16.88Wh. For comparison, the XCover7 has a smaller 4,050mAh battery (typical capacity, 15.59Wh). The battery is manufactured by Amperex Technology Limited (ATL).

There hasn’t been an XCover Pro model since 2022. That one had some perks like a 120Hz display, an ultrawide camera, better selfie camera and a fingerprint reader compared to the XCover7. The XCover8 Pro should have similar (and perhaps even more) upgrades over the vanilla entries in the series.

We don’t know when Samsung plans to unveil the XCover8 Pro. The XCover6 Pro came out in June 2022, the XCover7 in January 2024, so the first half of 2025 is our best guess for now.

Do you really need to ask these basic questions? They don't make it larger because compromises have to be made, specially for a rugged phone that has to be protected while underwater, and higher mAh equals to bigger battery, meaning less space f...
