i bought this phone and i really started liking this little mobile. it has a very nice touch screen which is responsive good processor, good looks and 2.3.5 gingerbread for its price.........i got the phone for 7150 INR. (--) little bit low battery life. for me it lasts abt one andhalf day......cant expect more......overall a very good phone

Tried the Galaxy Y in Samsung showroom yesterday and compared with the Galaxy Mini (Pop). The accelerometer (orientation sensor) did not work smoothly, device had to be completely tilted before it worked. Also, I found typing quite difficult on the phone even in landscape mode, since even in the landscape mode, the screen width is quite small.
To put it succintly, the experience with the Y was underwhelming. The Pop was somewhat better. I'd come ready to buy but postponed the decision.
Later in the day, I tried out the Nokia C5-03 resistive touch keyboard. Typing was smoother, although it did not seem to have word prediction feature. The screen was also more joy to look at at.
Bottomline, the screen is important. Basic android models are not upto snuff in this department yet. My suggestion would be to wait for upcoming Samsung (plus icecream sandwich) and Nokia World events, and then decide based on the new handset announcements.
Only if the Nokia 500 were cheaper, I'd go with that phone over the Y.
