Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 teardown video

Vlad, 04 September 2023

After having survived a torture test last month, today it's time for Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip5 to be put through a teardown. It's being taken apart, bit by bit. Having a folding screen makes things interesting and difficult at the same time, since with 'normal' phones you can usually just reassemble them at the end and they still work.

But foldables have a lot of fragile parts inside them, so one needs to be extra careful while 'excavating' through the phone. See what the outcome is for yourself in the video below.

Spoiler alert: taking apart and fully restoring the Flip5 to its 'before' state is no easy job, but it was accomplished in this instance by Zack from JerryRigEverything, who, interestingly, plans to buy a Flip5 for himself and use it for the next few years - that is, of course, if it manages to survive his pockets for that long.

That will be the longest durability test he's ever performed, and we're anxious to see the results. In the meantime, with the Galaxy Z Flip5 Samsung seems to be proving that the days of foldables being much more fragile than slab-style devices are over. There's still a difference, obviously, but it's perhaps not as huge as you may have anticipated.

If you're interested in learning more about the Flip5, don't miss our in-depth review.

Reality can. I've owned Z Flip devices as daily drivers since the launch of the first model. Never had one break on me. Meanwhile, the last three slab flagships I've owned all cracked. A Note9, S21U and S22U. Costing me over 1,000 euro...

If Jerry can do it better, then why can't professional reapeirmans do?

Maaaybe not the best video to promote to show a teardown. A video done by a professional repair person would probably be better, since jerry only wants to destory phones.
