This is my first time using foldable smartphone. To me the annoying part is the aspect ratio. I though if i choose this foldable rather than a tablet for watching movie is gonna satisfied, but i felt so wrong about it. Maybe i need to give a change a few month or year before decide to sell as secondhand. LOL

Koks, 06 Sep 2023I have been using my 512GB ZFold5 for about 1 month now. I ... moreSame here. Just today I powered down the Fold5, switched my SIMs back to my 300€ OnePlus Nord 2T..

Main problems with Fold5 for me, not in order:

-cameras are worse than in this 300€ OnePlus
-cover display is awful for everything, no digitizer, shitty aspect ratio
      -thick, heavy (compared to competition)
-surprisingly, more buggy ui/os than any phone ive had the last 10 years

Maybe ill check the foldable scene again in a few years. Maybe they will be more reasonably priced, maybe the Chinese make proper global launches, maybe samsung makes a usable form factor.

I really am not pleased at what I perceive as the reason they don't put their best lenses and cameras on the Fold family is because of their flagship Note/galaxy phone.
The Fold family is supposed to be productivity centric and the flagship stands alone as the best of everything they have. Now is it the best of everything that they should have put in and on their phone? Well, that's another, equally frustrating discussion.

I have been using my 512GB ZFold5 for about 1 month now. I hate the cameras. If Samsung insist on fitting midrange cameras on their over $1800 phones then I would have to look at what Apple or Google have to offer in the nearest future.

Kizzy, 17 Aug 2023More like a tablet than a phone and it's too big. I ha... moreWell that's why it folds, so you can use it like a normal phone for quick and easy stuff, sending messages, making calls, checking the time and all that, but folding it out is great for things like checking emails, multi-tasking (true multi-tasking, not iPhone wannabe running an app in the background multitasking, any phone can do that now), running full screen videos, conference calls.

It's also handy for viewing pictures and videos on the full screen, might be an odd aspect ration, but it's still twice as large. A folding phone is just a good idea for those that want a tablet and phone, but don't want to carry a bulky tablet and don't need a large tablet either.

I used to use a 10 inch tablet and phone, it was such a pain trying to drag them both around and using hotspots for my tablet and all that, now with this phone I can get both at the same time, albeit a smaller 'tablet', but a 2-in-1 nonetheless.

                  Supported since iOS 4

„Human multitasking, the apparent performance by an individual of handling more than one task at the same time“ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multitasking

The user can use multiple apps, for example browsing an app while listening to music via Spotify

„Media multitasking, using TV, the Web, radio, telephone, print, or any other media in conjunction with another“ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multitasking

It‘s also possible to be on a phone/FaceTime call while browsing the web

So Multitasking is supported in every possible definition. What you probably mean is multiple full-screen apps.

That ain't multi tasking. Running 4 apps at the same time on the same screen is multi tasking and iphones can't do it. So learn before you speak (iPhone users). Only tabs or foldables can do this.

Azeem, 18 Aug 2023No doubt the phone has high end specs and you can expect a ... moreRegarding your downsides.
                      1. With the new hinge, the inside screen is completely protected. so only the outside glass is exposed, just like any other phone.
                      2. I feel little to no difference between the texture of the inside and outside screens. though I must concede it is objectively softer and less durable.
                      3. water resistance is identical to most flagships.
                      4. for me the large screen is for multitasking, not just putting a big movie on.
                      5. having used an S10 before the fold, I much prefer the side mount. my hand naturally rests in the small fdivot for the scanner as opposed to having to loosen my grip to get my thumb in the middle of the display, and hope I lined it up right.
                      6. I am not a massive power user, but I get through the day with 20-30 remaining regularly. conventional phones are better, but 4400 is sufficient for many.
                      7. My fold lasted about a year before I had any issue, namely the inside screen protector started to bubble up, it was replaced at no charge.
                      8. cant object here, would be more justifiable at like $1300-1400 not $1900

No doubt the phone has high end specs and you can expect a good day-to-day performance. There are two main advantages of foldable phones:

                          1. A big tablet size screen can be easily carried in a portable pocket size device.
                          2. Technology enthusiasts buy foldable phones to impress their friends, as they look innovative and stand out in a world where almost everyone use a flat phone.

However, there are a lot of disadvantages of these foldable phones.

                          1. Fragile build quality compared to traditional phones.
                          2. Only plasticky inner display is a possiblity. A glass display is more robust.
                          3. Lower IP ratings than other traditional flagship models.
                          4. Weird aspect ratio. Majority of videos and apps are designed to work with traditional models and not with squarish displays. Even the outer display has a weird 23.1:9 ratio.
                          5. Although fingerprint scanner position is much of a personal preference, a side-mounted scanner, by no means, can be called flagship level. Many entry level phones offer side-mounted scanners.
                          6. Large batteries are not possible with foldable phones. A 4400 mAh is never sufficient for 7.6 inch display, despite efficient processor. After all, its an android device which is power hungry OS. The same capacity batteries are offered by iPhones with smaller displays and more efficient OS.
                          7. The hinge and other rotating parts may quickly wear out over a few months of usage.
                          8. Despite these shortcomings, it is the most expensive Samsung device.

Keeping in view these shortcomings, I don't see any future of foldable phones.

Was an Iphone 13 Pro Max user and just switch to Fold 5. After using the phone for few days I knew I made the right choice. The only thing I would complain is the Bulky-ness when the "Slim S Pen Case" is fitted(Not a problem anymore since I'm used to the thickness after few days and it also fits into my pocket without struggle)

-Camera is way more better than Iphone 14 pro max (did a side by side comparison with a friend's phone)
                            -Very fast and smooth scrolling
-Things that you can do with S pen are amazing

When I spend so much for phone, I would expect it to be as worthy as Fold 5. Iphones are the best performing phones as well without a doubt, but my personal opion is IT'S OVERPRICED!!!!
