nice post dude
but I will give answers of your queries after
11 months, hehe
I know all those CPU specifications that you have listed,
but you should know that just knowing the specifications and thiking that, "Oh! Yeah, that's cool", doesn't making any sense.
because just having something can't make your phone some'big'thing, well I might be wrong, but my posts reported what I have seen in numerous other manufacturers and models including Nokia, Sony and Samsung..................
but one thing, Music quality is arghhhhh
can't compare to the real thing

Ryo Jin, 05 Oct 2008- Nokia N81 has 96MB RAM, and Samsung i450 only 64MB RAM(sa... moreThe Freescale I.MX31 CPU in N81 features a StarCore DSP running at 250mhz, a GPU running at 66mhz and the main CPU at 369mhz, i suggest you check out the PDF Document on this CPU, theres more to it than you think hence why N81 performs better than i450 in nearly everything. The N81 also has a Toshiba DAC33 sound amp, its sound is amazing. The TI OMAP2431 is hardly supported, only i450 and some old random HP iPaq use it lol, obviously a poor chip whereas the Freescale I.Mx31 is running at 500mhz in some Linux devices, and 369mhz in Symbian devices, its been used in over 10 Symbian and Linux devices. Its a very smart chip, very power friendly yet extremely fast versatile. Give it up, i450 itself is running an obselete CPU to begin with.
The N81 has 96mb RAM chip with around 45MB RAM available on boot up, i450 has 64mb RAM chip with around 20mb RAM on boot up, poor i450. The 1st N95 had the same RAM chip but has around 31mb RAM at boot up.

Tsepz, 05 Oct 2008Lol, its FACT that the W910 is the worst at audio between t... more- Nokia N81 has 96MB RAM, and Samsung i450 only 64MB RAM(same as Nokia N95). N81 has better in multitasking.
        - Nokia N81 use CPU Freescale 369MHz. This is a cheaper CPU, lack of 3D Graphic Accelerator and audio accelerator. Samsung i450 use CPU TI OMAP 2431 330MHz with dedicated audio accelerator and lack 3D Graphic Accelerator. This CPU was downgrade from the powerful TI OMAP 2430 450MHz with dedicated both 3D Graphic and audio accelerator (used by Samsung G810 and i8510 INNOV8). But, we all know that TI OMAP CPU more better and expensive than Freescale that used by N81. Maybe N81 little more fast (369MHz against 330MHz), but i450 has better performance.
        - Samsung i450 DSP is powered by Bang & Olufsen ICEPower Amplifier(active through headset). If u use the same headset for both device, Samsung i450 has better audio quality than Nokia N81.

insearch, 05 Oct 2008Well you should realise that buying a Nokia of that segment... moreLol, its FACT that the W910 is the worst at audio between these 3. Have you been to M-R Forums? Theres a huge topic on the phone with best audio quality. The W910 is way behind. The N81 and N91 are the best followed by i450, ITS FACT, everyone knows it except you little i450 Fanboys.
The N81 doesnt need a service center every 6months lol, ive had mine 11months and NOT A SINGLE serious problem. The N81 is very stable, its been so reliable, and now with its latest v20 firmware it has menu transitions and effects making its UI very attrictive and fun to use. The N81 also has has more RAM, it actualy has DOUBLE the RAM of i450 to multitask, this makes the N81 a true Multimedia device, N81 also has a 369mhz CPU making it faster than i450 in most functions especialy when running Java apps. N81 also has dedicated Music keys to switch tracks when listening to music whilest in another app. N81 also has On-Demand Paging for less power and RAM consumption when not needed. Meaning the N81's CPU is underclocked when not doing a lot which saves batt and makes it equal at batt performance as i450 even though i450 has a larger batt lol! The N81 is a much better buy. Even GSMArena said the N81 is better for Music and other things.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Well you should realise that buying a Nokia of that segment will pinch you several times,

but still it depends on you, if you want only volume and "N series of Nokia" just to show off then you can go for N81,

but w910i has better looks and better audio quality then N81, (I know that it is buggy and tends to get slower with time, but so does Nokia)and also, you get a better set of headsets which put the stock headsets of Nokia on shame(same goes for samsung),

but what I think and believe is its better to buy an i450 with some 3rd party headphones, if you can't tolerate slow and sluggish interfaces,

an i450 with 3rd party headphones is going to cost the same as N81,

the benefits are better audio quality, pleasant aural experience, responsive interface, but if you can tolerate slow interfaces then go for w910 because it has better looks, audio quality, needless to say decent set of headphones, and yes a better camera although all of the three phones have a 2 MP module....

Well, its better to have a lower internal volume in your phone(i450), which can be corrected actually, then to have your mobile in the customer care for 2 months repeating every 6-7 months(N81),
But if you are really into music go buy a dedicated music player instead of a music phone.

            feedbacks are welcome

Then boy go and test your ears,
accept this that you can only speak in anonymity.......
I have hands on experience on almost every music player manufacturer out there in the market(except Cowon), I won't say that i450 comes near their standards but certainly has a clarity factor that Nokia lacks.
Even the sony w910i(my previous consideratoion) distorts the sound on higher volumes.
Its bad to think of Quantity instead of Quality
(Yes, and I guess that you think Apple as the best music player manufacturer!! )
                If yes, then
                HA HA, boy think again,
or should I say, Go check again

                        For "Naveen Singh"

We all know that i450 packs a very good audio quality but is little on volume and everybody is sad about the stock headsets.
As you have already mentioned that we should use 3rd party headsets and have generously named a few headsets and Sennheiser MX 160 as the best tested, but a few owners would like to know whether is there any increase in the Audio Volume or not.
I know that it will sound annoying to you but for others who don't have any hands on experience with 3rd party headphones, connected with this phone, will like a conformation from your side(as you are active here) about the increase in volume before they go and pump their saved money into some headphone and feel that with this phone, even they are crap.
Also please explain why a higher SPL, low distortion, high energy conversion ability of a headphone is needed instead of saying that "just look for this and that or else you will kick yourself if you buy one which is void of these."

And hopefully this will be able to shut the mouths of all those Nokians that roar for N81 and 5320 Xpress"Crap"Music in anonymity and are completely satisfied with their volume pumping phone which is of course, without quality.

Your prompt response will be apprreciated!!

I bought the All black i450 and i love it.

i dont know why people here say that they cant install apps, themes.. though i have'nt encountered any issues on the apps and themes i have downloaded over the internet.

sound quality is fair enough not that loud but very clear. sometimes loudness actually depends on how an mp3 was converted.

the headset that came with the phone is fair enough, not comfortable to the ear that's why i have to buy a nice headset for the 35mm jack and sound was superb.

keypad is so soft. controls are OK.

the phone is not really prone to smudges just take care of it.

just remember that you cant have everything perfectly in one phone, each made with a special function.

i'm a samsung lover since i can buy my first phone. kinda dissapointed to see this phone is using Nokia software since i'm not too fond of Nokia.. XD

Well, i've bought this phone and is currently confused to know that the sound volume on my i450 is way too low. i think my (former) D500 is louder on max (although with rubbish sound).
I see that few ppl is having the same problem with it. But i haven't found any clear solution for it besides using a 3rd Party headphones...
Is there really no way to boost up the sound volume (on the normal n extended speaker or the headphones)?

any recomended settings or software to use in this case?
                                  thx for the input guys...

SAMSUNG is THE BEST (for me thou^o^) and keep on progressing upwards....

Finally i choose this handset over nokia 5320 and E51 3 days ago because my friends said that Samsung has a better sound than N70 music edition. And some of you said that it has Iphone sound system. Im a bit dissapointed here. The sound is good, although its better than most handset,i expect it better than this. It Samsung anyway ,and a music edition too. It should better than any other samsung series. But,i didnt regret for buying it. The design is nice and unique. It has many feature, and for me it easier to use compare to other handset except Nokia. The only downside so far is the sound and the user guide (i thought personally that Nokia has far more complete n thoroughly user guide). Hey Samsung crew, what are you doing, this is a music edition, you should make it better and louder. Anyway, did any of you know how to silent the starting n closing music? And what about the memory, is it 40mb share with program?cause mine only 25mb. One more thing, how to use and setting hsdpa? Forgive my idiot question. Im new to Samsung and a smartphone
