some notes on it:
-it does have swype and live wallpapers
-it can run apps that are made for HVGA screens fine(which is the most popular screen size there is for android) on a downscaled version..even WQVGA and WVGA but of course expect the lag and cropping.
- i ran a Quadrant Benchmark for it and scored 503 which is above xperia x10 =)
i have some questions too about it:
- when i opt for 'vibrate' the sounds for notification and calls automatically defaults to silent. any means of getting around it?
- is there any app available to run JAVA games in it, or any android device there is?

I use it alot (since its new =) with videos, wifi, music, txting, playing and live wallpapers and at least i get a day and a half from it..the battery life may not be the best but the good thing is you can charge it up for about 80 minutes and it's full from zero.

oh thanks anonymous, i was a liitle bit worried about that! =) i heard capacitive touchscreens have a limited lifespan so to say, but thanks im a bit relieved...but hope its solved anyway..

it is not dead pixel, its normal..its a end point to unlock the screen

hi im from PH and i have to say that Galaxy 5 (locally identified as GT-I5503) is one of the best phone at this point. It has a speedy CPU that clocks about as fast as iphone 3G and its' interface is very slick and responsive. With right apps in it, it can hold its own against higher end phones.
Interface: 98/100
Audio: 75/100 (mono, but excellent in-ear output)
Video Playback: 90 (can play upto 1400kb/s)
Screen: 80/100 (quite pixelated and not the best in sunlight legibility)
Battery: 80/100
Camera: 75/100 (non-autofocus, tops at 2MP, video at best is 15fps, no led light but it does have a nice range of settings)
Responsiveness: 95/100 It's Capacitive! sometimes lags but it may be due to the mutitasking toll on the CPU
one quirk i have though is that after 5 days of buying it i noticed a 1pixel-row of dead pixel already in its lockscreen. It does vanishes after you went past the lockscreen. Retail package includes stereo wired headset and 2GB memory card.

Well, im pretty much impressed with the phone more than anything what i love is the cost factor with is approx 9K INR inc tax,which qualify galaxy 5 to be a budget smartphone.However im disappointed with speaker placement of the phone, its placed under the phone which makes it impractical place screen facing us, still didnt get me?, well once speaker is blocked by a surface volume reduces to actual half, you would miss few calls if you are away from phone and screen facing up. Other than that i would give 8/10.
