      Three eddy, 17 Jul 2010Be in upgraded android to v2.3 new????1st of all it won't have official 2.2 (from samsung), some developers are working on a custom 2.2
      2nd it may not be an 2.3 version of android, butskipping directly to v3 (gingerbread) wich has minimum system requirements (rumored): 1ghz processor, 512 MB RAM (too much for spica)

        I am surprised to see so many negative comments on bluetooth, etc.

        To me the phone has been an amazing experience so far (been using it for 4-5 months now). There were some issues with bluetooth while I was on 1.5 but after the firmware upgrade (official upgrade using PC Studio) I send files from my PC to the phone without any problems.

        2.1 is a wonderful piece of OS. I installed LauncherPro home instead of the stock HOME of android. Also got BetterKeyboard which is better than the stock keyboard.

        With also those free apps on the Android market and considering the price of the phone I can easily call it the best phone in that range...

        Cheers

                Warning: Samsung's PC software does NOT connect to the Galaxy SPICA. Period. No file transfers (unless you mount manually) and no Bluetooth.

                Official word from customer service - Our software does not recognize the Android OS. Huh?!

                So, Samsung does not support this phone or care to upgrade it. They just want you to buy a newer phone. Nice.

                Their PC software is simply horrible.

                    This handheld is rubbish. Overeat issue, and always fail sending sms even when network is full strength. It's real rubbish. Avoid this stuff.

                                    @teja: What I invoked are medium class phone when they were bought. I got my hands on many other phones and none were "good enough" for me. But for medium class, from now on personally, I will never ever choose another samsung or android system, at least until android fixes their crappy system.

                                        Spica plays .mp4 of resolutions 320x240 only!!!
                                        And i had found that Spica had problems playing certain xvid files. Probably you would have tried a .avi file with xvid. On the other hand it does not have any problem playing dix(1-5). The limit on resolution is 720x408(thats the highest resol i was able to play on my spica), more than that spica would simply refuse.

                                        @Ganesh,
                                        I had faced that problem while i renamed my apn so that i could use the net But not always.I had to restart my phone to get my EDGE signal back. I had also experienced a reboot while clearing my market cache, but didnt experience the same anytime more.So will get back again and give you a full steps on doing that. Meanwhile you can install the sdk and fiddle around adb tool.
