Update to 2.1 is available. So far so good. But does anybody know if the Galaxy Spica is going to be sold already updated. I am considering buying this and dont want to have to update as the first thing with the new handset.

rainai, 20 Apr 2010This is great news!!! I really can't wait to have my e-pas... moreHi rainai,
Thank you for reading! I used I570EXXJD1 firmware which i got from http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/
You can find a guide to update your phone's firmware here:
http://www.londatiga.net/it/samsung-i5700-galaxy-spica-android-2-1-flashing-guide/
DISCLAIMER: Following the above steps is highly risky and WILL VOID the warranty of your device (if you flash the firmware of another region, which I have done as 2.1 is not there for India). If you do not know what you are doing, there is a high chance you will brick your phone and I do not take responsibility for that. If you are not confident of flashing, then wait for the official 2.1 Update for India from SAMSUNG (hopefully that will happen)

I bought it last March with pre-installed 1.5 (Cupcake) version. What intrigue me to keep hold on this phone, is last week email respond from Samsung Center Indonesia they had the 2.1 (Eclaire) firmware this April. It does, and mine just updated with new firmware (official updates) in Samsung service center.
It's great, bluetooth works, camera menu added, android market exist and pantheon launcher with compatibility with added samsung widget give this handset more features.
