I strongly recommend you use skyfire it support full flash and java. You can download skyfire from www.skyfire.com

In fact it only freezes on youtube, I haven't tried other sites yet if it freezes. I was wondering if that is normal when you surf youtube. Have you tried it?

I did pretty much a lot of research on the features of the i780 before deciding to get one. I was torn between getting an e71 or an e63 or a cookie but was particular at the wifi feature. Nokia changes models a lot so I wouldn't want an outdated phone as soon as I just got it. Thus settled on the i780.

I really love this phone and I'd like to see it's full potential.

Please any help...that won't destroy the phone hopefully! ^_^

I've read of dead units after installing wm6.1 if their phone originally came with wm6. So I'd put that aside for now.

I *did* try the Launcher that gwapito suggested and it worked! that was the fun part ^_^

SPBshell works out well on a i780. I have tried it myself the only hitch is you gotta purchase the product to view all the features it has to offer. I too purchased a i780 recently. You can download spbshell from the website: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.co...mobi leshell/

I haven't been able to find a cracked SPB Shell online (If anybody knows where this can be downloaded please help me and Kyoko.)

I'm not sure why is that your phone freezes while using opera. Try reseting it to factory settings and try again. If the problem persist. I'd suggest you go back to the dealer or the service support center.

Hi there please bear with me as I'm pretty new to the i780 just got it last Monday night and haven't had a chance to tweak it other than changing wallpapers, sending text messages and testing the wifi.

I seem to have only wm6 and not the 6.1. The UG hardly gives much details on completely making the i780 useful in an advanced level... so here are my enquiries:

1. will spbmobile shell work on it? Judging from most of the posts I've read (im really trying my best to read all of them)this makes the i780 even more powerful than it already is.

2. where do I download a possible 'free' spbmobile shell to install on my i780? how do I install it?

3. When I try youtube using opera browser my i780 freezes up I had to close it everytime on the taskbar. Is this normal? What would you recommend?

dear all...need ur help (again n' again...)
i seem have a problems with internet explorer, it doesn't seem 2 b working everytime i try 2 sign in 2 my facebook account...keep dropping...after connecting..locating...n' that's it..nothing's change..still stuck in my log in page...what's wrong? n' if i try 2 use d opera browsr, it connects me 2 my "m.facebook" acc..but if i try 2 load a full site view it seems like i have a page in a page..( do u all know what i mean?)...2 up/down scroll bar (inside n' outside) n' 2 left/right scroll bar (also inside n' outside)...have i set everything wrong or it's just these 2 browsr's problems?really need ur favour here guys...please...please..thx a lot..

Gwapito, 20 May 2009As I've said, plain i780 without any tweak is not good so I... morei have tried it all and in my opinion nothing gets even close to spb mobile shell (i used 2 and now the version 3 is even a greater revolution). Sometimes it's true what they advertise - it's the first software a wm user should install. I would surely break or sold my i780 if it wasn't for the russians. It gives wm unparalleled graphical as well as thumb friendly improvement. I don't work for the spb, but i highly recommend it to everyone using wm. All my friend owning Omnias are thanking me every time they see me:) And they have sold about million licenses without counting the pirated versiona! Regards!

As I've said, plain i780 without any tweak is not good so I will list all the tools and tweaks that will improve the ease and usability of i780 by 1000 percent! I will not post the links here so just google them. most of them are freewares.

1. AEButtons Plus - Assign up to 4 shortcuts to each hardware button. Single click, Double click & long press can have different functionality in just one button. Example open new SMS with just single click of a button or Open Inbox by double clicking the same button.

2. Launch Manager by fantasticbytes - This is my favorite launcher. Simple, Fast, no frills, it will make your i780 the easiest to use phone on earth. Forget about SPB mobile shell3, Vitto Winterface, pointUI, yrgo etc. Just try the version 3.5 beta at fantasticbytes.com and install it immediately period.
My second honorable mention is panoramic LaunchPad.

3. chgfingermouse - This will easily toggle between mouse mode and 4way pad mode by just pressing a hardware button. It's because some operation works best with mouse while some are faster with 4way pad. Get used to the switching and navigation is a breeze.

4. MagikB by Mobiion - This will make typing in i780 twice easier. You can forget about Shift and Caps buttons because you will no longer need them with MagikB. Believe it its so effective and even made typing very addictive.

5. Quickly write new SMS. How many taps does it take just to write a new SMS? You can perform the same operation with just a click of a button. Just google it because gsmarena will not post this if I provide the links here.

6. RealVGA - this will solve all screen incompatibility problems regarding the square resolution

7. Samsungbacklight - this is a very very useful simple app. It will solve screen visibility problems during outdoors because its hard to adjust brightness settings if you cant see the screen. samsungbacklight will cycle to maximum brightness with just a click of a button. Alternatively you can use MVBKlight.

8. Batti - this a very good none obtrusive battery meter. it displays a long thin horizontal bar at the top with plenty of options.
A similar alternative but less functional is also present in SPB pocket plus.

9. Dontforget - Lets accept the fact that i780 will stop all notifications after it goes standby or the display turns off. That means you will never know a new message or missed calls unless you turn on the display. This utility will continuously notify at predefined interval through sound, led, or vibration until you read the message.
Alternatively you can install SPB phone suite.

10. S2U2 - this is simply a locking software but this is much better than the default windows mobile locking system which requires us to tap twice at different location just to unlock and it becomes difficult during bright outdoors. Another alternative is SmartLock.

11. fexploreext205 - this utility adds more functions to file explorer context menu popup like properties etc. Alternatively you can use spb pocket plus.

abforce, 20 May 2009how long this phone battery for normal use. without wifi,3... morewith advanced power settings (medium brightness, turning off screen when not using it and a good network coverage) i got it up to 4-5 days. The battery life was really superb for me!

Regarding Creating and Editing documents. That's what this device is made for.

For 3dgames it can handle them. You better check Need for Speed Undercover and Asphalt 4. But i780 have trouble with games that support only 4way pad.

To all,
plain i780 without any tweak is not good. But after you apply them all its perfect and I love it more and more each day!

Almost all apps support 320x320. Some old 240x320 games doesn't but I see bunch of new games happy with 320x320. Or you can download the freeware RealVGA to make all apps compatible.

About the optical mouse it works really great. I downloaded chgfingermouse to easily toggle between 4way pad and mouse. I mapped it go a button and navigation is heaven.

Thx a lot TT..another couple of questions: 1) does it works fine to use 240*320 apps on this mobile..? 2) the mousepad,is it easy enough to control it..? because the trackball on the other samsung phone i550w was a disaster..3)im planning to use it mostly for viewing,creating and editing documents..would it be a piece of cake to work with this handset..? 4)is it possible to play 3D or HD games..?

The disadvantages of I780 would maybe be: square screen 320X320 which makes some apps incompatible (but nothing major), a poor camera and sometimes you have to press hard on the screen but that's the case with many wm devices. Otherwise i found no disadvantages except windows mobile, but you can succesfully mask that with software. If u have any more questions just ask!Regards!

A great office device even considering windows mobile limitations. Every feature worked great, i got two batteries in the retail package and even on heavy use i couldn't drain one in lees than two days. Most of the times i got through the whole week with the pair, so in my opinion the battery life is excellent. You need a few pieces of software to make I780 an excellent device though (spb mobile shell 3.0 is a must)- Otherwise a great device and i highly recommend it!
