I got the 8gb micro sd. It works like the 4gb without any problem.

Transfering 500mb from laptop to the memory card directly only takes no more than 40 seconds. :)

But you'll need a transflash or a SDHC USB card reader. I prefer the SDHC card reader where you can put an SD card because it's easier to slide the microsd to the SD card converter. With the transflash reader, you can put the microsd card directly into it, but it's a pain in the @$$ to take it out.

I think the reason why there's no flashlight for the camera is that it would use a little bit too much battery.

Like I've mentioned before, I wish that there was an extended battery. If you use the phone carefully with all the function on a daily basis (e.g. GPS, internet browsing, listening to music, watching video, managing expenses, and etc...) the single battery may be enough. But you just have to be careful, thinking that it's a mobile device.

The square screen isn't that bad. There are a lot of free software that you can try first. Plus you can always try software before you buy like Pocketgear. Some software are not completely compatible, but so far, I really have no complaint besides games.

Hmmm...it seems like a good phone with all specifications inside. I'm thinking to purchase this new phone since i'm still using Dopod 818 Pro (already upgraded to WM6 on my own, better usage comparing to WM5^_^).

But my concern is the 2.55" square screen display. Can we install most third party softwares on it due to "incompatibility" of its 320x320 pixels? This is the main question if thinking to have it. Can anyone tell me? Thanks.

Another concern is : why Samsung never include the flash light to the camera? Aiiii..

Make sure that you fully close any program that you don't use.

Press and hold the OK button. Then close what you don't need, or 'close all.'

Windows Mobile is for multi-tasking. If you really multi-task, you must know what you are doing. Otherwise, you can choose Symbiam OS.

Soft-rebooting WM on a daily basis once keeps it to the optimum. I guess you can find a program that does that when you are not using the phone while being charged.

Does anyone know why i780 is out of stock in Singapore?
It has been out of stock for 5 weeks in all the mobile service providers like M1, Starhub & Singtel.
I tried to contact Samsung Singapore yet no news from them.
I am really anxious to find out when is the next shipment arrives in Singapore, I would be appreciated if anyone can let now.
Also, I hope next shipment of i780s' comes with Windows Mobile 6.1
              Just keep our fingers cross!

I'm upgrading to 8gb SDHC. I only have 100mb left in my 4gb. Tomtom already take over 1gb.

The other thing about SDHC, as I've found out, is that you'll need a reader/writer for it. It doesn't matter if the SDHC card comes with an SD converter or not.

The first thing that I found useless was the device locked/unlocked function in the today screen.

The last thing that I've found useful is ... the device locked/unlocked function in the today screen.

What's it purpose? How do you use it?

When you need to play mp3 music, you'll need to leave the lcd turned on. What happens when you tuck the pda in your pocket and the lcd is turned on? Something will eventually be in contact with the touchscreen, and some other processes will start to be functioning. To prevent that, you'll need to lock the screen while you enjoy your mp3 music while you walk around.

                        A-GPS & GPS.

For A-GPS, you'll need to use GPRS.
This is my understanding of A-GPS. A-GPS locate you through your mobile phone provider's network. However, the mobile phone (e.g. i780) doesn't connect through dial-up (i.e. i780 doesn't call a number to request the data). Therefore, the phone/pda needs to connect somehow to somewhere to get the data needed to be outputed in the screen of your current location. Therefore, the phone/pda sends and receive data through the radio system: GPRS.

For smoother live streaming, you'll need to already have the map in your pda/phone (e.g. Tomtom). But Tomtom doesn't support the i780 because the i780 comes in a newer designed platform.

With the GPS, you'll need to get signals from satellites to locate you. Hence, you don't need to go through you wireless phone service provider. That's good when you don't want to pay some roaming fee.

Oh yeah, for the phone shutting down problem, it's not the phone. It's the setting. It annoyed me at first. I almost wanted to sell my phone when I experienced it, but I gathered myself together to tweak it. This phone is really good, but like I've mentioned before, it's no HTC. However, I really have no regret of owning this phone at all.

                          Ok, here's the solution.

Start > Settings > System (Tab) > Power > LCD Off (Tab) > uncheck: "Turn off LCD after call has been connected for"

                          Voila! Enjoy your i780.

Yes, this phone synchronize with Microsoft Outlook in the PC. It's a Window Mobile.

Yes, if you are in the Today screen, you can press any number, and the phone will be activated. As a matter of fact, when you are in the Today screen, you'll get to the phone by even pressing any letter. It'll look for name in your contact list. This thing is rock solid as a phone.

You can also use the front camera to take picture. Just use the volume button going up. I've just found this out by playing with the camera. It just make me smile. I can take a picture of myself, or with friends without having to ask someone to hold the camera. The 2.0 Megapixel camera isn't really that bad. It could be better, but 2.0 is sufficient for picture ID, or some other small format usage.

I do have a question about the person who was able to use Tomtom with the internal GPS. I know that others have been able to setup Tomtom with some third party paid software. Has anyone been able to set it up without any other software besides Tomtom?

The Opera browser that has come with the phone is great, compared to Pocket IE. But it'll get even better when Opera Mobile 9.5 will be coming out this summer. Pretty much like an iPhone, with a better zooming interface with the whole webpage at a glance.

                                Hi all,
I got this great lovely Phone 2 weeks ago and it really provide great performance to open any applications. it's Fast & responsive. For those who thought of buying this phone, believe me, u wont regret of owning tis sleek n powerful ppc. It may not the best PPC, but its a good one.

The battery life is longer than i expected, it could last up to 2 days, after i back from work, the battery meter stil around 70% - (with lots sms typing, games and surfing net)

I never found any problem of Shuttin down on its own. Perhaps it's the specifit unit matter.

Windows Live Messenger working perfectly on tis mobile, no lagging, no connection problem (depends on the WIFI connection)

I've installed Coreplayer in it as it supports more Video, music file types. and it can search and play Youtube easily.

Eventhou im not a pda expert. But i'm happy with this phone as it really speedy and it can open few applications without any issue.

In Short, just love this Phone!! its not iPhone, but OurPhone!

                                Regards

I'm waiting it to come out in HK. I heard other forum said the new screen resolution 320x320 prevents the Windows Live Messenger from working properly. So, anybody with such problem? Is the device comes with Windows Live Messenger by default? Please advise. Thanks.
