Once again, where is the Australian upgrade to 6.5.
I love this phone but Samsung are really letting us down. All the promises of free upgrades were lies. I've sent emails to them and they don't respond. It's like they don't wanna know about it.Other phones have 6.5

yah if u use the widget plus its slow and laggy BUT if u use the winmo default its much better, and if u have the time put spb shell on it and its like a new phone, i got no issue like bad multimedia and crap like that (maybe bcuz i just got mine 3 days ago, which means new batch) if u dont know how to use winmo, dont buy it, just buy the iphone or android phones which is so easy to use, but im telling you no phone company can match samsungs technology ATM, btw AMOLED IS SOOOO SWEET..

Thanks for that input............I was about to buy the OmniaII but changed my mind.

I still love my i8510 INNOV8 which is the only phone I have ever seen stay the same price or in some cases go higher.

                Its rock solid.

It's really a bad phone. The interaction is very slow and video playback disastrous. The menu is very slow and confused. The management of WiFi is bad. But the screen is beautiful! I so hated, I reactivated my old HTC touch that is much faster even without the Omnia TouchWiz II. I recommend not buying it.

I've had this phone since it came out in the Netherlands in the begining of September. Two major issues with the experience:
                          - Though hardware is supposedly great, the UI is quite laggy (especially scrolling in the gallery with many photos is a nightmare).
                          - Memory is a nighmare - not only are 96 of the 256 megs or RAM reserved for hardware, but the 50-70 or so the phone starts with gradually go down due memory leaks until after a few days you can barely open more than one application. Means every couple of days I have to reset it.

Using unofficial roms makes the experience a bit better, but bottom line - don't buy it. Get something with Android.

I had seen Samsung Omnia 2 listed as GT-I8000 just a few days back. Now I see, its again not there. I do not know what are they doing.

                            Cheers.

..., 24 Jan 2010Some of your problems can be fixed if you just try to read ... moreThanks for your kind words ..., it's always a pleasure reading snide remarks.

"call button - it shows both the call log and the keypad at the same time. sometimes, you need to observe."

As I said, it was not showing the call log. If you are talking about the minuscule 2 lines on top of the keypad, I meant the proper detailed log with Missed, Received, Dialled and All options.

"Buttons sound - go to settings - sound setting - hardware buttons tone and disable it."

Come on, I ain't talking of the hardware buttons. I'm talking about the top on-screen menu bar buttons which used to be pressed by the cheek during a call. Read by comment but also understand it.

"Touchwiz UI is so laggy - then don't use it, use the winmo6.5 default."

WinMo 6.5 update is not yet available in India for Omnia 2 and the 6.1 is very bad without a stylus which is a pain to carry externally. Windows UI is by the way very confusing, Symbian is simpler. Maybe because this is the first time I am using WinMo but there's a 1st for everything and the 1st time I used a Symbian or iPhone, it wasn't so difficult.

"notes application - do you know that when you press and hold to a file, a context menu will appear (Rename/Move..., Delete, Create Copy, Select all.....)"

Do you know that I have tried that but the note always used to open? Only when I press and move my finger up and down with the file selected would the context menu appear.

"Loudspeaker - have you heard audio feedback??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_feedback"

Like I said, there was a hardware flaw in my phone that the MIC didn't work during a call on loudspeaker. Secondly, call another mobile (in your hand) from your Omnia 2 and accept the call. Then put the Omnia 2 in Loudspeaker mode and check the irritating noise. If you are lucky, you won't get it.

"Widgets - that's why you have 3 home screens... CS"

When you put the widgets back, they don't fall as per the previous order. This is a personal choice, I like my homescreen clean and uncluttered. So in effect, I pull out the widget and when I put it back in, it used to screw up the order. And I don't know if it was only my phone, but when clicked on the widget from the widget bar, the applications never opened.

"message copy - all the messages that you received are all READ ONLY files so you need to forward it then highlight the strings that you need then press and hold. a context menu will appear."

When you compare this functionality with a Symbian or an iPhone, the text copy is available right there which means you save yourself extra steps of clicking on Forward and then copying it and then ensuring that the message doesn't get saved in Drafts.

"volume - do you know that you can press the middle icon to move from unmute to vibrate to mute???? and you don't even have to press OK... (oh man....)"

I know this functionality. But again, please try to understand my point and not just read it. What if I want to lower the volume from 5 to 2. The screen will first take you to System Volume and then Ring Volume. The screen doesn't last long enough to complete the job at ease.

"windows UI - Winmo6.5 has the best windows mobile UI so far."

WinMo 6.5 update is not yet available in India for Omnia 2.

But do have a look at this official Samsung Mobile India Site "" http://in.samsungmobile.com/support/samsung-mobile-manuals.do "" .

1.)The phone is not listed in the available models.
2.)Not listed in the support catalog for software & manuals too....

I really dont know how a big company can overlook such aspects.

But I do admit liked the phone and its doing good till now :D
