Has anyone used office mobile on this phone. Can you open more than a single word document at any one time ? What's the handwriting recognition like ?

Is it true that this phone is not much of an improvement over the original omnia in regard to sunlight legibility ? Want to upgrade to a more functional phone but need it to work outdoors too. Can someone who already has got this phone take it outdoors and reply.
          Thanks...

lalit, 22 Jul 2009Looks like Indians are in for a treat these two months. Sam... moreWell India are certainly far ahead of the United Kingdom (UK). We have only just had the Jet S8000 released this week and no word at all of when the Omnia 2 i8000 and Omnia Pro b7610 will be released in this country. Probably won't be for another two or three months knowing how far behind the UK is unfortunately.

Looks like Indians are in for a treat these two months. Samsung India’s Country Head, Guru Dutt has confirmed that they’ll bring about 7 new phones by July, including an Android phone. Their aim is to capture about 20 percent of the market by the end of this year and with the powerpacked list to support their cause, there is a chance they might achieve it.

                    June:
Samsung Jet in the last week for Rs. 24,150.

                    July:
This is the golden month. Three phones from the Omnia range, one an entry level rugged phone, 12MP Pixon and an Android phone.

                    Omnia HD – Rs. 36,000
                    OmniaPRO 7610 – Rs. 27,000
                    Omnia PRO 7320 – Rs. 17,500
                    Pixon12 – Rs. 34,000
                    B2100 and Galaxy (I7500) – Price unknown

In Singapore, SingTel's provide a trade in value of S$400 for i900 Omnia, while Omnia i8000 on contract is only S$398. Thus theoretically SingTel owes me S$2 when I upgraded last Saturday.... Simply one of the best deal ever cos I cannot be more pleased with my purchase. The 3.7" is simply unparalleled in beauty and the color rendering on the AMOLED screen is truly stunning, beating anything else I had seen.

I must also say that I am very surprised that Samsung managed such an extensive overhaul of the horrid Touch UI interface on the original Omnia in just 1 year. Although Touch UI 2 is not as sophisticated looking as HTC's TouchFlo 3D, it is still very pleasing to the eye and IMHO far more practical and useful.

Because of the large and much more sensitive screen, qwerty input on a touchscreen device also finally make sense. The built in Samsung Keypad/Keyboard input method had been improved and is now very usable. And one can make the qwerty input method made even better by installing the free Finger Keyboard 2.1!

Other major improvements include a better camera (still 5MP but definitely better), vastly better video recording (30 fps DVD quality) and a new multimedia apps (Photo Album, Touch Player, Cube Launcher, etc...) that are a few generations ahead of their predecessors. My only complaint here is that Touch Player is somewhat laggy but this is only the first firmware and it has to catalog the 8GB of music on my MicroSD SD4 card.

The new Touch UI also do away with the need to install applications like Magic Button and S2U2. The applications are now so well integrated that the media player is actually built into the lock screen now as well. It's nice to know that Samsung has been listening. Next year, I will certainly look forward to Omnia III.

According to the Omnia II website
( http://omnia.samsungmobile.com/omnia2/ ), this is upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5. Will this upgrade be free, like HTC has promised for the buyers of the Touch Diamond2? Which interface is better - TouchFlo or TouchWiz? Trying to decide which phone to get - this or the Touch Diamond2. Thanks!

Any Omnia 2 user face this problem?
After send a sms text, a message pop up, "message send" together with a tone.
And this tone is tap with MMS tone.

The original design omnia 2 for camera is 8 mega pixel but because of affordability they change it to 5 mega pixel.
