its agood device but the noticeable thing is how easy the update to 4.1.2 is i was thinking its difficult and iwill need the computer to do that but it was as easy as connecting to the internet and it ask me for update and after about 10 minutes it was completed and every thing is o.k

AnonD-146243, 16 May 2013It says mini sim on specs but mine uses same old Vodacom si... moreThe "mini" SIM is the standard card we use here in Mzansi(South Africa) but the "micro" SIM is the 1 used exclusively by Apple on iPhones & other iDevices but Sony is also jumping into that. bandwagon cause I seen some of them at a few VodaShops & MTN stores. Well, in terms of functionality I'd personally buy this (midrange)mobile or the Sony Xperia L for size & everyday use than the flagships & then have a tablet for videos & web.

I'm really happy buying this phone since december.
Total apps 107 (47 games about 10 are 1GB++, 15 social and media, 45 tool apps) wtih internal memory free 2.26GB and with 32 GB external with no degradation of perfomance with active 5 pages on home screen.
So happy :D :D :D

Personally, I prefer the S3 Mini simply because it has a Super AMOLED screen whereas the Grand has TFT. That gives the i8190 a 223 ppi against the 187 ppi on the Grand. Also, the Mali-400 chip is superior to the Broadcom used in the Grand.
However, the Grand wins on the camera, 8Mp compared to 5Mp on the S3, video at 1080p compared to 720p, TV Out, and a larger battery.
It comes down to personal choice, but my goes on the S3.

Samsung can't do that because it would be false advertising.
Each country has different carriers, and each carrier alters the Firmware to suit them, so the file size changes again. The UK Firmware is 1.28Gb before it goes to the carriers, who each add their own bloatware to it, so the size is never consistant.
