You know, not to discourage all of those planning to buy this device, there is a handset which is a close rival of this phone. It's the Galaxy S Advance. For a cheaper price, you could get almost the same performance, and Jelly Bean is coming to the S Advance in a short period of time.
Just my opinion. :)

So a senior guy comes up and say we need to make Ace 3, with this model no, and these specs. The team hears it as S3. But they thought we already have S3 why does he want S3 again, now everyone is reluctant to question him, so they assume he must be wanting S3 mini version with respect to specs. So they all get together and start on the project and even make the declaration and even leak out some info to create a buzz, now when all these are done, samsung being a top player cannot back out, so they go ahead with a launch Ace 3 as S3 mini, and they told themselves, while we are at it, why not make some money out of it as well. Thats how S3 mini was launched. Interesting isn't it?

has anyone else noticed how this phones code name is very similar to that of the samsung galaxy ace 2
s3 mini: I8190
ace 2:I8160
and the features of the S3 mini make it seem like it was going to be an upgrade to the ace 2 (I know that the ace 2 just came out this year)

3.8 inch screen
SIII mini: 5MP camera
1GB RAM
Dual-core 1ghz processor
4" screen

Very disappointed with Samsung, was hoping S3 mini to be as powerful as S3 (8 mp Camera, Quard core cpu, Ambient light sensor)....
This is actually downgrading S3 personality !!.
I tried s3 for some time, found it too good but returned back only because i found it too big for my hand and pocket... was waiting for s3 min.

To me a mini version are a smaller version of the big one with same spec,,if its got different spec its a different model range alltogether..Thats the buzz getting all the top spec into a mini version not just downsizing spec as well anyone can do that..Bloody waste of time me waiting for this,,proper SGS3 it is then.

All the Android phone manufacturers seem to follow this herd mentality. The specs of all the flagships look very similar to each other, screen size of 4.6" to 4.8", similar quad core processors (except Sony who is stuck at dual core), same camera specs of 8 mpx (with a few exceptions)...
And then there is the mid market phones with single/dual core processors, 4 inch VGA screen and 5 mps camera.
Yaaawwnnn... No one tries to innovate anymore.
This phone has the potential to break that mold but Samsung decided to stick to the herd.
It is time someone realized not everyone who wants a small phone wants a low budget one. So stop making the smaller phones fat, slow and with outdated technology. How about making a really slim (8mm) phone with a HD 4" screen, 8 mpx camera and decent processor ?
