This phone has all the features i want, has the battery power to use them all and volume [stereo speakers] for the music i love so very much, i am a nokia/sony ericsson fan but i cant help but say "this phone is da bomb" !!

im a total nokia fan here cos i always thought they made phones which were far superior to any other manufacturer but this phone is in a league of its own. incredible job samsung

Nice one ... to big dimensions for 2008/2009 and old design ... but impressive specs ... might get this one for the specs ... has anyone seen the Samsung U800 Soul b? ... it's in a rip off class of it's own ... the designteam at Samsung put a Nokia 6500 classic in a photocopy machine ... changed the colour and called it U800 Soul b ... this one actually puts the chinese mobile rip off companies to shame ... this is the best rip off i have ever seen ... i love Samsung so i´m not bashing ... but this one will take the first prize at MROA "Mobile Rip Off Awards" held in Shanghai, China.

wow, 760 euros without contract is hefty sum for a beta phone that is gonna be replaced by the second generation 8mp in a few months, i agree with a comment that Samsung themselves will probably be spitting out a few new 8mp phones before christmas without to much spotlight before release, this neta is the one in media that is supposed to grab attention, and the rest of the Samsung 8mp to come will just ride the marketing wave.

see, that's the prob.many just come and complain each week about something new..now it's the lens cover.READ for god's sake, READ!!!there is a shutter!
and yeah this phone ain't out yet.don't complain about a beta.

Getting this phone was a bad idea.
First, I hate the way the camera works and how uncomfortable it is in my hand when taking pics. Second, although I got this phone because it has 8MP cam, but the LED flash that came with it produced less than average quality pics. The phone works great as a phone but that's it.
I'm waiting for SE new phone and returned this samsung to the store. Don't make the same mistake I did. Obviously, there are better cam phones just around the corner soon. This cam phone doesn't deserve to be compared with the latest cam phones and is way overpriced. BTW, without Xenon flash, this phone looks like a rushed product.

Well I'm a nokia fan from a while and I will stay a nokia fan forever , cause it's ease of use , and also serices with dealers in Egypt it's better with nokia ,but I have to admit that this phone is just a Masterpieace , always loved samsung style but they always miss a feature or too which was going to make all it's phones as a perfect ones, like in this one why they do't add the 3.5 mm jack in the phone while you have 8gb or 16 + the card slot , so forsure you will use it as a music device in any time .

i am posting a comment, and i hope the SFG (Samsung Forum Gerilla) doesnt come after me.. If you have to much money this comment is not for you.. if you work hard for a living then is this might be interesting.. or not.. this is the first generation 8mp phones.. i remember when the first generation 5mp phones came out.. boy were they thick.. like holding a pack of Marlboro cigarettes in your hand.. same thing here.. first generation 8mp is just something i think hard working people should not get yet.. it has Beta written asll over it.. if i was counting my money and still was phonefreak i would wait till second generation of 8mp phones which is probably be announced in very beginning of 2009 and due first quarter of 2009 if the branch follows the pattern of last 6 years in the mobile buisness.. or as Samsung does.. once they release something new.. they sure to follow a few sudden new model relases in row without ant particular notice to us fans.. they will just pop up here b4 this year ends.
Well, its up to each individual, i count my money so i will be very interested in gettin the second generation slimmer 8mp phones in Jan-March 2009 for 450-600 euro each probably.. that is a alot of money to be throwing out twice in 6 months.. i believe me.. you will want the second generation 8mp phones when it hit the stores.. very badly..

you ppl can get the stupid lg 8mp camera phone or that dumb nokia n96. Both of them are UGLY as hell. This phone I know for a fact is good looking and has all the features at the same time! Ex. LG KC910 does NOT have fm radio with rds. And for the flash, you just need a flash. I don't even know what the hell that Xeron flash thing is, obviously not the end of the world if the "perfect phone" does not have it.

The camera o... moredude..u think i'm dumb enough to invent that?so if u don't trust this site go somewhere else coz to remind you..GSM ARENA TESTERS CONCLUDED that it had the best cam..don't make yourself even more ridiculous,READ.and as stated in a previous post, who won the camera award?i'll let you read..try to see if there was any carl zeiss optics somewhere.
concerning the design..well in my opinion it's not that important that it's old fashioned provided it's good looking.it's better not to make weird designs and end up adding more mechanics and consequently making it more fragile to intensive use and shocks.this phone being a slider is already too much.i prefer bar phones..that's one of the advantages of nokia and se as they WERE focusing a lot on bar phones but err a bar phone with so much stuff would end up being too bulky like old NSeries.slider phones, after a lot of sliding, their phone-screen cables tend to damage(blank screen,colour fluctuations and funnily,negative colour display lol).but i think samsung got rid of that prob since i known people using theirs for more than 3 years and have not had that kinda probs..heavy users and D600-D900 era phones.nokia has this prob too on one of their slider phones (i don't know for new nokia sliders)..so err sliding or whatever mechanical design is to my opinion already a weakness.double slide?no way i'm having that
both SE and samsung are into the camera industry..so carl zeiss this, carl zeiss that aaaah..u know.
