why do you keep referring to megapixels being in the software? The amount of pixels is determined by the image sensor. I understand that this phone has a true 8 megapixel sensor and there's no "upscaling" involved. Yes, the quality of the image will also be effected by the lens, but the image still has 8 million pixels whether you like it or not. I'm really sick of all the pretend "professionals" on this site that are actually just pimply teenagers (and usually illiterate) crapping on about stuff they know nothing about! (and what "professional" photographer would call themselves Kodakmaster? Are you serious?

i agree wid kodakmaster and i know wot he means wid da fake 8 mp shots and real 8mp shots. i have a pics upscale software on my pc dat makes less mp shots look like 8 mp shots after cleaning up the noise in the pics. its the software which makes it look like fake 8mp. i dont think da actual lens takes 8mp pics.

this camrea/phone is a beauty. It has all the features ever wanted in a phone. It's truely pc on a go!
it's worth it. I dont know the price but i really worked on this handset and i liked it a lot!
And s60 will have a lot to bring in near future, so be ready for a s60 phones ! forget SE...

Who says that i use an iPhone for taking pictures? I'm not an idiot, it´s only 2mp, read my comment again, i said i don´t use cameraphones cause i have an iPhone and a seperate professional camera, which means i don´t use phones "at all" to take picture, i use a real camera. Let me teach you something about photography, the 8mp lens is the same small 5mp lens on phones, it doesnt actually take better pictures, it may look slightly better in printsizes less then 28x36 cm, but it´s the software that makes it look like a "fake" 8mp shot, like if you buy DVD player that has a software which upscales picture quality standard definition motions to a "fake" 720p, 1080i or 1080P, and is not real High definiton.
Take the lens of a normal 8mp digital camera and compare it to a 8mp phone camera, what grade photograpy and what kind of work do you do? You don´t sound like a professional photographer, just wondering.

I am photographer too and i completely disagree with you. If you have any clue about picture quality, you would not use iphone. cheers

The 8 mp is just a trick point trying to sell phones, it's still the same as a 5mp quality, i´m a professional photographer, i don't use cameraphones cause i use a iPhone and a real professional camera, i can tell you that as long as the lens is as small as a green pea as it is today in cameraphones it doesn't really matter if you put a 20mp into the software, it won't be better, it's still the same lens but a "upgraded" software, after 4.2mp you can´t really make the picture qualtiy any better without increasing the size of the lens.
Samsung released a 10mp cameraphone a year back for the Asian market, and we compared the picture quality in full blown up scale to different phones, and still the Nokia N82 with Xenon flash was better then the 10mp, so the 8mp should not be your buying arguemnt, it should be the other software in the phone, just some advice or however you might look at it.

Got to play with a prototype yesterday. Seemed to be packed full of stuff, but had so many bugs and kept freezing up for around 5 seconds. i was assured it was because its not the finalised product, but i think this is likely to end up like the N95-1
Also, on the phone screen, you cant tell the difference from the 5mp to 8mp camera, would be able to see a change on pc though, but onscreen, both look the same.
