Anonymous, 03 Mar 2011Drawbacks of this phone are: 1.low processing power of cpu... more----------------------------------------------------
-1.low processing power of cpu which is just 600mhz-
                ----------------------------------------------------
Yet go back in time to 2009 and the closest Nokia ever got was 433MHz, Apple IPHONE3Gs is also 600Mhz and the best Android at that time in the market was I think 500MHz.

As we have seen via the HX Patcher, Omnia HD owners can over clock the CPU to a max 950MHz (although at that speed its unstable) but works great at 900MHz and the best option is "power mode" with a dynamic sliding scale of 800MHz (low) 850MHz (mid) and 900MHz (high).

Not even the lame brain Nokia N8 which I add is a 2010 rip off of the Omnia HD can match it.

                --------------------------
-2.low RAM of 256 mb only-
                --------------------------

Read above, even the Nokia N8 has 256MB of RAM, also I have both handsets and using Device manager widget at idle with no active apps the Omnia HD has free 140MB RAM and the N8 only has 125MB free RAM, thats a victory for S60v5 over the newer S^3 in N8.

Again 2009 model Androids were lucky to have 128MB of RAM in 2009.

                ---------------------------------------------
-3. Low resolution of screen 640*480 only----
-4. Bad screen, only amoled and bad sunlight- -legibility.---------------------------------
                ---------------------------------------------

Correction, its 360x640, which surprise surprise the N8 has, hmmm, interesting hey, who would of thought that Nokia would be ripping of Samsung hey, actually what is more scary is that it took Nokia almost 18 months of development work with the N8 to match what Samsung in 2009 with the Omnia HD.

Also the first AMOLED screen in the world, in 2009 it was the bomb where Nokia were using resistive screens and Apple were using low re capacitive LCD screens. AMOLED is still better than LCD Capacitive let alone LCD Resistive screens.

                ------------------------------------------------------
                5. 720p video recording is bad. It hardly reaches---- 22fps whereas others are now providing 720p at 30fps- and even better 1080p at 30fps.-----------------------
                ------------------------------------------------------

yet for 2009 is was awesome, the HX Patcher has fix the issue on frame rate by lowering the bitrate, the CPU (not CPU) controls the HD video recording and as such you can now have smooth 1280x720p 23.997fps HD video recording, however it uses h.263 video codec and not h.264 which is more advanced but hey again for a 2009 model handset to have it goes to show that the Omnia HD was very advanced from the start.

                --------------------------------------
                6.no firmware updates from samsung.
                7.samsung has quit symbian OS.
                --------------------------------------

And with good reason, Nokia bought out the Symbian Foundation, also S60v5 is a dead duck with no future upgrade path, even Nokia are dumping S60v5 and S^3.

                ------------------------------------------------------
8.no free voice voice guided navigation like we have in nokia
                ------------------------------------------------------

But we do have samsung LBS re: Route 66, granted we have to pay for a licence for voice turn by turn but its still an option.

                Of course

If you have flashed your Omnia HD with HX v11 you to can have Ovi Maps 3.04 with full maps downloaded from Ovi Suite or Nokia Map Loader straight on to your Omnia HD, works great to.

                ---------------------------------------------------
                9.no eye candy UI
                10. Touchscreen UI has lot of flaws
                11. Web browser is not upto the mark
                12. No good resale value for samsung
                13. No good resale value for this set as it is far far outdated and there are no takers because of above reasons.
                14. Few applications as compared to android
15.no support or service from samsung whatsoever
                16. No warranty for this set as samsung has qiut symbian os
                -----------------------------------------------------

On point 9, blame the Symbian Foundation on that one which means you must blame Nokia for coming up with a lame UI design.

On point 10, TouchWiz 2.0 is far more easier to use than Nokia's own attempt for S60v5, i mean come on double tap on a touch screen? gees even LG with their Flash Based EFS OS in the Viewty had single tap with their resistive screens but Nokia thought it would be nice to have double tap ... loopy hey

On point 11, big deal, install Opera Mobile 10.1 and away you go, that said the S60v5 browser does play Flash Lite 4.1 which is good for certain flash based video sights including YOUTUBE.

On points 12 & 13, seriously every mobile looses value even Apple IPHONES loose value.

On point 14, HX patcher takes care of that as it allows installation of Ovi Store app which means you can have both S^3 and S60v5 based apps on the Omnia HD, a.k.a Need For speed Shift, QuickOffice and even again Ovi Maps.

On points 15 & 16, Samsung does indeed provide 12 months warranty, so yes they are still supporting the service side of the Omjia HD provided its recite sales date is within 12 months of original purchase, so got no idea what your blabbering on about.

At the end of the day, the Omnia HD in march 2009 was KING, even the IPHONE 3Gs could not match it spec wise, it took nokia 18 months to release the Nokia N8 and even then the only thing it beat it on was 12MP cam v 9MP cam, yes the Omnia HD is now out of date but with custom roms like Feneli and HX v11 the Omnia HD can still be a very powerfull peice of equipment that can still go in terms of performance.

Anonymous, 03 Mar 2011Drawbacks of this phone are: 1.low processing power of cpu... moreAs far as the 720p recording goes, after overclocking, it gives a smooth 23.97 fps (NTSC spec) framerate, as a result of which the videos look awesome. Its still photo quality is equivalent to that of INNOV8. At the time of its release no other phone came even remotely close to it.

Anonymous, 03 Mar 2011Drawbacks of this phone are: 1.low processing power of cpu... moreThe resolution is 640 X 360 not 640 X 480. After modding the phone u can overclock the CPU to 950 MHz (though 900 MHz is more stable). People have even run NFS Shift HD after overclocking.

Oh,and one more thing, this was the first phone to support 720p video recording. If this is not one for the history books, nothing is.

little friend, you forgot to mention the followings:
1.this phone (from 2009!) is faster with 600Mhz than an android phone with 800Mhz
                              2. we have 160Mb FREE from 256Mb ram (with running spbshell, isms, roadsync, tsunami) while an android phone has less free ram from 512Mb (without running applications)!
                              3. when this phone came out the top android phone had 240*320, so yep the 640*480 in 2009 was really bad... don't compare that to new phone, but there is still many middle category android phones with lower resolution
                              4. "Bad screen, only amoled and bad sunlight legibility." one word: did you tried LCD or sLCD phones in sunlight? try it and after come back to talkin about.
                              5. did you ever tried that LG phone with 1080p recording? I'm sure you don't.
6."no fw updates" yep that's true. but it's not omnia's fault, samsung does the same with their top android phones too.
7."samsung has quit symbian OS" and what?
8.ovi maps 3.04 works on omnia too. you man never had omnia or you're just a kid. why, has android free OFFLINE (please leave me with gigabyte/money eater shit googlenav) navigation? NO.
9."no eye candy UI" I think the spb is same eye candy as launcher pro, but it depends from your needs. but if you wanna lick something then buy real candy not a phone :)
                              10. "Touchscreen UI has lot of flaws" what r u talkin about? LOL what a dumb reason...
                              11. "Web browser is not upto the mark" see above
                              12. "No good resale value for samsung" which manufacturer's phone has "good resale"?
                              13. "No good resale value for this set as it is far far outdated and there are no takers because of above reasons." same stupid reason as above...
                              14. "Few applications as compared to android" if you need 5000 fart program and 2000 taskmanger then go ahead, buy android. True, the ovi store is a joke, but if you have brain then you can use google and could find hundreds of sites where are thousends of free/cracked apps.
15."no support or service from samsung whatsoever" if you're repeating your same stupidity in every 5th line, they still won't be true.
                              16. "No warranty for this set as samsung has qiut symbian os" LOL, that was the best. so, sorry but you're so dark like the moonless night. warranty is for the phone and independent from OS support or color of your refrigerant.

I really don't understand dude, it seems you're a kid (you can't install eye candy shell, you didn't found programs, your phone's camera can't record good 720p video) so which phone could be fine for you? Android? Definitely not, android for geeks who can find programs and can solve the video problems. Maybe iphone? If you like to be a slave who follow Steven the god, then go ahead.
The thing is, I'm following the annouced new phones but still no better price/value phone on the market. Maybe LG optimus 2x / 3D or galaxy S2 (if they will be in the shops) will give reasons to change omnia hd, but now the galaxy S / desire hd / n8 / nexus s (the top price phones on the market) doesn't give any better for me. So, if you want to buy a new phone and you're rich then wait copule of weeks and buy GS2 or LG 3D, but if you don't have uncle Rockefeller but you want a stable and still top-middle category phone with these features: 3,7" amoled, 256ram, cpu+gpu (oc'ed upto 900Mhz), stable 720p video, 8mpixel photo with led, 2-3days battery life, 8/16GB internal storage then you should buy an omnia hd with ~300$ (which latest phones has same features on this price?).

Anonymous, 03 Mar 2011Drawbacks of this phone are: 1.low processing power of cpu... moreYou make it sound like this phone is literally a dinosaur. Yes in the past two years it has been way outdated for sure, but is still an epic phone and huge placement in phone history! There are way better phones now and yes Samsung quitting on it is the biggest draw back, but the phone by no means at all sucks. Also just because we now have super amoled plus does not mean amoled is bad. It still outdoes lcd and a billion companies still use lcd. There are also still many phones only getting 600mhz cpus that cant record hd. And 20fps in 720p for the first 720p phone and up to 24fps is decent. Lastly with custom roms that help give it better software to use the full potential of the hardware it runs really smooth.

To understand each and every above points u need to see specs and user opinion of samsung galaxy s. In short i8910 is way outdated and reached its end the proof is how many user opinion is updated everyday in this forum?? I have i8910 for sale in best condition but no taker for even rs8000. I have kept it in drawer next to nokia 6600.
