Hey guys what's up ??
My comment is really so important if you really can't decide whether to buy an iPhone 3GS or Samsung Omnia HD.
I have been reading all the reviews and comments about the Samsung Omnia HD and even compared it with the iPhone 3GS.
Until the very last few minutes just before buying my mobile , I wasn't really sure which mobile I had to choose !!
I made up my mind finally , and decided to go for the iPhone.Unfortunately , all 3GS iPhones were out of stock and I couldn't wait to be put on a waiting list to get my iPhone so instead I got Samsung impatiently.
Here's what I hate about my Samsung :
1- NO support by any means for the middle-east versions meaning we can't get any software updates to fix the original bugs.
2- Cam recording has very poor audio quality which I also can't fix .
3-Lack of applications and games that are designed specifically for Samsung HD. All the apps that work with the HD are actually for Nokia .
4-Here's one of the things that disappointed me most of all.
I thought that by buying Samsung omnia , I'd buy something that's completely different from Nokia that I alwyas used to buy previously .
As we all know , we all have to change our routine sometimes and do different things including changing the type, mark, model ...etc of things we used to own.
To my surprise , instead of buying a device that's unique , Samsung's software is completely the same as that of Nokia.I know they are all using Symbian , but I thought may be there was little difference in the way of using and handling the phone !!
Everything is almost the same as nokia :
The order of the icons in the menu , the way things are organized , the options available for every setting, even samsung uses the same "ERROR" sounds of nokia.It's really boring.
So, for example , if you own Nokia N95 , you won't feel that it is much different from Samsung.
5-The cam's video quality isn't that astonishing as the name "HD" suggests . Even the images aren't that great.
6-Knowing that it's using a 256-MB RAM and the same processor used fot the iPhone 3GS , Samsung is slower copmared to the iPhone .For example , web browsing using Opera mini 10 is really sluggish and horrible in loading the pages.
7-You can't use the front camera except in video calls.
So my sincere advice , unless if you are looking for a change and intending to buy a device that's completely different from any other mobile you have owned without imitating other brands and really want to get out of the routine , don't get the Samsung HD...
I'd go for the iPhone 3GS .
I am not making this up. I really have Samsung and I honestly described all the disadvantages without being biased to the iPhone 3GS..

My omnia hd is still on the way but I will gladly save you posts on hacking the phone and use it when I get the phone. Btw as for the risk part I always knew it would be, which is a risk I willingly take, but I just want to minimize it where possible. Hope you have as much fun with the wifey as I did with my siblings on a christmas shopping spree.

sajad, 11 Dec 2009sry bro. i saw ur request v. late in which u asked to acess... moreyes, choosing *#0*# and then cif cam works.. and you can even click photos by touching the screen.. but is there a way to take a video using that? i could probably use it to make one for an mms.. yes, the main camera could be used to do that but then i cant see it unless i stand in front of a mirror and take the vid.. so does anyone (sajad, in particular) know how to do that? hamid, symbios - do you?

the flashing process is a risk wole cuz ur taking the ris of turning ur i8910 into a nice shiney brick....so i advise that u take the risk only if u r completely ready to accept the consquences....and although i said its a risk its not a difficult process its as simple hacking ur phone all u need to do is get all the stuff necessary for flashing and the guide i posted, although its not the easiest to follow it will help u greatly in the process....but i'm out for now gots to take the wifey out lol but wen i get back i'll post every supportive there is to give u all u need to get through this....adios

Well i tried and it actually worked plus the music sounds amazing when the 5.1 is turned on...

"I just paid for my omnia hd at a very good price too so am happily waiting for it. It will be from the uk though so I need help from any and everyone with knowledge on debranding, XXX, Symbios...I know I saw something here a while ago about doing something to the phone that permanently messes up the camera so I want to avoid risky things and only do what's been proven (after what I spent and how long it took to find a good deal you can't blame me). The only thing that i hav noticed about the new firmware version XXII2 is that the software seems to be more stable, no hangs no matter how many apps are running and it stil has all bug fixes of the XXII1 firmware so its kinda faster and better
