hamid, 29 Sep 2009omnia HD is not winmoHamid

Symbian is better than WinMo. Stay away from Winmo.

    Just my opinion.

I have the Innov8 which up to now has been the best phone EVER I had.

after hacking it with new firmware I get 7 days standby and 3 days moderate use.

Going to buy the Omni HD in December for Xmas.

        Dear Friends,

I would like to buy a windows mobile phone, and I don't know if i should go with omina HD, omina II, HTC HD, or other brands like toshiba.
I just wants to run applications and programs smooth and fast, also wants to open big PDF or CHM files with out delay.
I was wondering if anyone could help me decide.

        Thanks,

i agree with you, were either too spoiled or to damn picky. just be happy with what you have and be happy that you can buy an awesome phone that you want because there are others who can afford any of these phones that you all complain about.

!!!, 28 Sep 2009HI DEAR SUKRSA by the way sukrsa are u reading this cmnt... moreDear,
I have read all those post.
I think you have not read that so many users said "It is a very good phone".
All over the world so many people uses this phone, some of them may face some difficulty due to lack of knowledge, software/firm ware problem, manufacturing defect etc. It does not mean that the particular modeled is not good. You have to understand the percentage of good and bad as per user’s opinion.
If you do not want to believe that i8910 is a very good phone, than I have nothing to say. Even you believe that N97 is better than i8910, I do not have any objection.
Only I can say “Go buy N97 for you”.
                Thanks.

There are those looking for the "perfect" phone when it doesn't exist. Then they complain when they don't find it. AND there are those too dim-witted to search for technical help. If someone wants an "easy phone", then get an iPhone. But then the iPhone has more than its fair share of problems, as well.

as much i love this phone, this phone is so useless!!! no apps!!!! softwares have a lot of flaws, need to update to the latest firmware. You can't update firmware due to the country where you live. My phone factory settings is from Poland. I live in the USA, i can't update firmware. it's not compatible with t-mobile USA 1. can't receive picture message 2. headset audio quality when calling is terrible, alot static and noise 3. camera is hard get the best settings for the best quality!!! 4. web browser is not smooth like iphone 5. loud speakers are crisp, loud, and clear!! 6. built quality is highclass, tough, elegant, fit one hand (iphone is too big for 1 hand usage) 7. battery last almost 2 days for normal usage. 8. audio quality is good,8-10 ratio comparing to iphone 3g or 3gs.

i just dropped this phone after 2 weeks. now m selling it on ebay!!! omgggg!!!!!

***i8910 and the Disaster of Voice Quality in Modern Phones

I bought an i8910 and sold it 1 week later. I had been looking for a phone that ran Symbian for the sole reason of needing to use Nokia Maps for frequent travel, and also one that wasn't as staid and boring as the Nokia models, but also offered a usable Multimedia experience with no need to recode my DivX films for travel, and no-need to open a laptop for document viewing due to a large good screen and the biggest battery possible.

The i8910 certainly seemed to fill this need. Much research in review websites seemed to also vindicate that this was a great phone.

                                  What a mistake.

As a multimedia device it is stunning and superb. It is too big, but you simply can't make a big screen magically small. Un-recoded videos videos and docs were great on the Amoeled screen.

Making calls was another issue altogether. People I called complained that I sounded distant. On my side they sounded hollow and distant as well. You heard all the words, but it was a thoroughly unenjoyable calling experience for both. This was the case regardless of whether I was stationary or travelling, the quality of the signal, 2G or 3G, or what kind of line (cell, landline, local, long distance, international, 2G, 3G) the person called was on. There were no dropped calls.

What leaves me perplexed is how everyone could get this so very wrong. Perhaps most people don't use a phone to make calls, or perhaps when they do they don't care about hearing the other person clearly ? Part of calling someone is to hear them clearly enough so that you can hear their feelings on something through the words. If you didn't need to do that, or couldn't do that well, you might as well write them an SMS or an email. Perhaps people use phones as a multimedia device only and make calls with a simpler phone ? Most review sites gave the phone a glowing "thumbs-up" as they represent the manufacturers and are reliant on their continued support, either directly, or in terms of fast access to new devices, but even those sites that are independent minded should perhaps not give an overall good phone rating to a phone that can't be used a as phone and hustle the voice quality information into a small part of the back of their review.

I do realize that an objective test of call voice quality is difficult. Voice quality changes in different situations: stationary/travel, signal strength, provider, phone used on the other end, 2G/3G. It also changes depending on the frequencies of the sound of the voice and the ambient noise (think of the disaster that otherwise excellent phones like the Nokia E52 are: if it is used in a high ambient noise environment it is too quiet (low max db on speaker) AND the clarity function will cut out your voice as well as the noise) as well as whether you're using the handset, corded headset or wireless headset. Each user also interprets sound differently. So the problem is complex, which accounts for reviewers taking the easy path, ignoring call quality and reviewing just those items about a cellphone that are irrelevant to the who business that a cellphone is in.

Despite this, the very least websites should make recordings available on their websites of their calls to landlines under the most common variables above, and let users make their own choices.

The competitive situation for phone makers is such that the hard work of ensuring good voice quality on highly complex do everything handsets doesn't amortize itself over the relatively short life of each model. Simpler headsets are easier to get right, but on complex models it seems to be a struggle. Even if one headset manufacturer decides to take more time and produce higher quality voice, they run the risk of financial death if their competitors do not do the same. Think of Siemens cellphones - they built cellphones with excellent call quality, but were too small, had too few "sexy" models and soon went out of business. Samsung has now flooded the market with a huge range of excellent multimedia phones with stunning features. Nokia shares lost significantly because they didn't match the pace or innovation. People were replaced. Technically however, the cost of this flood of models and features for current generation Samsung phones (the previous generations were excellent) seems to have been almost uniform poor voice quality (ie: usable to hear the words but not usable to hear the "quality" of what is being said), whereas many (not all) Nokia phones (with exception of the N97) still perform well to adequately in this regard. iPhone 3G/s voice quality does well or poorly depending on the reviewer in question (but is the ultimate device from a manufacturer's perspective as it is booth very expensive and, due to the un-removable battery, disposable after a few hundred recharges). Thankfully many HTC models seem to have adequate voice quality.

The stock-market message to Nokia however will be "think short-term" "worry about appearance of quality rather than actual quality" or risk being overtaken by number 2. Or fired.

In the long-term no company that has ever consistently provided low quality survives. But the long-term can be stretched and made long indeed, and most shareholders worry about a return on investment in 6 months. Senior managers worry about getting short-term results by cutting costs, staff motivation and quality to get that multi-million bonus for 2 or 3 years, then "being retired" at an even higher amount. It is in their interest to produce things you'll buy rather and who really cares about the long-term of any company when your new yacht is ready ? Good products won't keep you in business as the public is usually too poorly informed when they buy and forget and forgive fast. What companies need is "shareholder value" products instead.

The only way we can fight that trend is to either buy simple phones again (not a lot of fun) or convince websites to do a proper job of testing voice quality and ensuring that that is the focus of a review, not the secondary toys. Please do your part and write in to the various websites
