mark, 18 May 2009i hope it does have the transmitter,would be good for my car.No FM Transmitter,look carefully at the GSM Arena spec. in radio feature only left : Stereo FM radio with RDS.
The words "FM Transmitter" has gone.
You must be very disappointed,got to ask Samsung why,they added in radio recordable,but deleted FM Transmitter.
That's weird,why can't they have both.OS problems ???

iTunes is not a problem, there is some free software that you can install to your computer and move freely any files between iPhone and your PC with no need for iTunes etc..:)
regarding the applications, I'm not sure but I saw quite a lot applications on the internet for Symbian as well, but of course iPhone has its e-shop with thousands of applications, so iPhone wins here, but i don't really need these apps, maybe just a couple of them... ok, I will see after I get both phones in my hands:)
regarding ringtones and video with audio - ringtones go without video, so it's not suprising that they are good quality:) and this posibly only confirms that the speakers are capable for the high quality sound, while sound for recorded videos can be restricted by manufacturer by some reason (like someone mentioned here the high cost for the license or something).
anyway, if you can watch movies on Omnia HD and the sound is good, so it's enough:) I don't really care about recorded videos sound:)
by the way, what if you record a video in lower resolution, not HD, maybe the sound will be better in this case, or the same bad quality sound?

about video samples-i didn't look for them,maybe they r in phone.ringtones r in mp3 format (think so) and quality is perfect ;-)

u all know, right?? hd is all about resolution, not quality..
if u make vids, it will be the same result, both hd mode turned on and turned off, if u make vids in the dark place..
it proves that the quality of the hd is not very awesome..
its just about bigger resolution with average quality..
so, whats the diff of getting vga video @ 30 fps with nice quality and using hd in this fone??

I just don't get it? you used every STRONG and GOOD point of this phone, talked about every aspect where it is SUPERIOR to all the competitors... and used it as your evidence for this phones low level spec... just plain strange...

Again, its all down to costings - to record video in HD, the processor is under high strain. even though its quick by mobile standards, HD is a different animal. I dont think it would cope recording in super high quality audio also. You would need a bigger processor, so bigger handset, etc. Plus the licences for the higher quality audios would cost a lot more... And all this would be passed onto us, the customer. bearing in mind the current price of some tarrifs from orange etc can you imagine how much this phone would cost if there were no compromises made? Nobody would buy it. So this is the best solution paired up against costs.

Im pretty sure there will be some video samples knocking around somewhere on the phone, as they were supposed to be hand-in-hand with the launch of the future productions thing. Knowing Symbian they are probs tucked away somewhere nobody will find them!
I think the sound problem is only with recorded video, any downloaded video etc. should have good audio, seen as it has a 5.1 sound engine. Still gotta wait till thurs for mine - gutted! really looking forward to it - the HD thing is bye the bye. I actually like Symbian, and love the quality of Samsung phones, so its a perfect match for me... i am also really short sighted so the big clear screen is a huge selling point!

I definitely need a big and Capacitive screen, so the choice is not big for me - iPhone or Omnia HD...

really? so there are no preloded short videos or movie trailers? I guess Orange removed them:) I saw on youtube Omnia HD previews some short videos, like Indiana Jones, Transformers movie trailers and so on, so probably Orange removed all this stuff:)
anyway, as far as I understand the hardware/speakers are capable for good/high quality sound, so the problem lies only with manufacturers settings and software, and this should be improved in the nearest future, I hope so, we will see:)
