I just found a website that sells classic phone. So, I would to ask; is this phone still relevant to use in 2014. I know there's CM11 for this phone, but how will this phone with CM perform for a light user (calls, msg/chat, browsing with chrome). I want to use this as my second phone.

my phone is of firmware version 2.2,for which i can't use share it to take an app from my friends.my retrica doesn't work from the front camera,i can't even install games or a lot of known apps i feel like installing.now i don't know what to do and how to increase the firmware version...?? and my radio doesn't have any options to record songs from the radio.i like the phone in total but for this reason it ruins my interest to use it.

rohit, 06 Jul 2014No dats not possible bcz this handset is not compatible for skypeHas been able to skype video call from day 1. I just loaded the app from the 3 network across to my unlocked phone and it worked fine, a few months later and Skype released a general Skype app for android that obviously worked as well. I got skype to work on a non 3 network phone before anyone I think because 3 owned skype and I had a three sim in an unlocked phone (gs1) I had the apk, but even when I went on sites like xda, all the crack was when is skype coming out for android , they had a post from a top skype guy saying it was coming soon, but no one even replied to me when I said I had a working apk. As soon as the new apk came out I simply upgrade to the new one but some wher on my i9000 I still have the first apk. Skype categorically has always worked on the i9000 but the problem started with the last android official update where the ram left is barely enough to keep the video call going. My gs1 is so well kept I could put it back in the box and convince you it was new , its not rooted or messed with, I say that because I bet the guys who've rooted and released more ram get a good skype experience.

this phone is still the best in galaxy s series...they say that 2.3.6 Android is the final that this phone can handle. On mine, Android 4.4.2 is working flawlessly.
The only con of this phone is, lack of flash light.
