mkm, 27 Jan 2011I apologize for the question but how did you "flash&qu... moreregiter on Samfirmware.com almost all of the official & leaked firmwares from Samsung are uploaded on that site. there is even a tutorial on how to flash a ROM using Odin.
KIES is slow. use Odin to install your firmwares. flash at your own risk. I almost bricked my phone while flashing a firmware.

Hi, everyone. I am Derrick from Malaysia and I am a new user for Samsung Galaxy S. My phone is updated to Android 2.2 already. However, I have a serious question. My alarm will never ring if I turn off my phone but it will ring if I never turn it off. Is this situation normal?

Battery is not good what is the problem?? i fully charge it in the morning but after 6 hours the battery is empty what is the problem??

Turn off yr phone. Press Volume Down + Home Key+ Power Button at the same time to see if it is work..

Map version is 5.0 now..

upgraded my firmware to 2.2.1 via Odin. I got tired of waiting for Samsung to release the 2.2.1 update in the region so I decided to flash the 2.2.1 Europian firmware into my phone. my SGS is now super fast! no need to install a lagfix.

i cannot connect my SGS to my PC...kies does not recognize my phone..if i choose mass storage in USB settings,2 drives that occur,tells me to insert disc...plsss help...

and did u follow the exact steps that darky put up. i.e flasing 8.0wipe first and then 9.0.2? which method is best to flash to 9.0.2??

Amir, 27 Jan 2011Thanks Amit for all great info : ) also u wrote u have sams... moreok firtly i had some hard time finding skype cuz its not available in android market OR may be its available according to region nd now i am in UAE...may be other android users can clarify this whether skype is available in android market for other regions...but i managed to download skype in galaxy s through googling...u can also get it but it will be a little pain figuring it out...video call doesn't work in android devices for skype but in iPhone 4 nd iPod touch 4 video call works like a charm in Skype.
Yes u can get widgets to view your missed calls nd new mails nd messages nd other stuffs in galaxy S though not necessarily u need widget for this cuz u can just slide the notification bar from above to show all ur alerts,missed calls...etc etc
OK now if u want to upgrade now get the iPhone4 its the best now available cuz after 1 month galaxy S will be obsolete since galaxy S 2 is coming nd apple will keep updating the iPhone 4 regularly for a long time unlike galaxy S which still i am not sure whether 2.3 will be coming or not...nd if it comes then that will be last major update for galaxy s nd the same goes for HTC desire cuz HTC has already confirmed that 2.3 will not be coming to DESIRE..
hope that helps to finalize ur decision..

jailbreak is like hacking iPhone(any iPhone or iPod touch).First jailbreak was illegal but after many petitions it was made legal by apple..so thats great!!
what jailbreak will do to ur iPhone?
after u jailbreak ur iPhone you will see a icon in your iPhone called cydia..nd that the home of millions of third party apps including addons,HD themes,video wallpapers,widgets,hacked apps,hacked games.gives hotspot ability to ur iphone,u can use bluetooth with other devices....you name it..
so that makes the iPhone the most customizable device available even android can't even close to iPhone after jailbreaking nd i am saying this cuz i have rooted my galaxy S hoping to be something like jailbreaking but seriously rooting has done nothing to my galaxy s.
Is jailbreaking worth?
10000000000000000000000% worth it....even these days whoever gets iPhone they jailbreak it immediately to get all the goodies..
is it risky or do damage to your device?
hell no! even a 7 year kid can do jailbreaking AND if anything goes wrong(which rarely goes) just restore iPhone from itunes nd try again.And yeah u can update your iPhone BUT u will loose the jailbreak but u can backup all ur jailbroken stuffs nd can jailbreak the the iOS version u have updated to.
well u have heard that PS3 have been jailbroken by GEOHOT nd that's the guy who first jailbroked iPhone..
so at the end of the day a jailbroken iPhone is 1000 times greater than an android phone(even ROOTED) cuz it gives full control of ur iphone
