Need Help, 08 Dec 2010Hi, There,
After updating i noticed that my SGS now see... moreHmmm...
For my phone, I noticed that the "S" sign takes a bit longer after the update (and specially now that I've added a number of apps) but its only for some seconds and quite far from 3 minutes.
There is also some lag from time to time but its not that big of a deal (actually, this has lessened with Froyo). You can try to reboot your phone and see the performance afterwards. If it is still bad, do a factory reset and reboot. For my case, I didn't experience any problem after a reboot (I did not do a factory reset) so I'm a bit puzzled with this.

Kabalyero, 07 Dec 2010Dude, if the update file is 400MB, then something is really... moreP.S.
Upon clicking the below link, a samsung webpage will appear. From the dropdown list (select mobile phone), just select Galaxy S and the applicable software and manual will appear. Download them and you're on the way to getting froyo! I assure you, its very much worth the extra effort.

need help, 07 Dec 2010Yes. I just download it from UK site. But it not the latest... moreDude, if the update file is 400MB, then something is really wrong. The installer for the latest version is just 135MB so the update size should be just be 50MB, depending on the degree of changes they made.
I agree with Anup, just download Samsung Kies directly from Samsung. The version number that I have installed in my desktop and laptop is 1.5.3.10103_102 which upon checking a few minutes ago is the latest.
You can download the latest Samsung Kies (which does not require any further updates) from the following address.
http://ph.samsungmobile.com/support/softwaremanuals/software.do
Take note that I got the version that I installed in my laptop (which also the latest) from the above site.
Worst case scenario: You still have problems getting the latest version of Kies or have problems with the installation or connection (as a significant number of users have reported in GSMArena), then you can always go to the service center. Yes, they are stupid so you would need patience but by now, they should already have the official word from their higher ups. The process will take 30min and as a requirement, your battery should be near full (i do not know the lower limit). Backup the files prior to the upgrade to be sure just in case of problems - although as with my case, I didn't lose any message, contact, app, etc. after the upgrade.
Once you update Kies, then that's the time you can update your phone to froyo. Again, this process will require a more stable and faster internet connection.
