Hmm - my previous tinyurl link got changed by GSM Arena I think. I guess links are not allowed?

It was a review on Tech Radar - they say: "When using the phone for the first time the contacts will import from your SIM if you so desire – nothing weird there, and we applaud the option. But the SIM contacts cannot be got rid of from the list of names, so on the whole we're left with hundreds (yes, popular, we know) of duplicate names with little SIM icons next to them."

... So basically you have the phone showing BOTH SIM contacts, and handset contacts.

              I read this review: http://tinyurl.com/GSreview

Is it true what they say here about not being able to hide the sim contacts, therefore having them doubled-up on your phone? I don't think I've seen it mentioned anywhere else.

Galaxy S is the best phone, but only if you dare fix it yourself. I have xxjpk plus lagfix plus sgs-tools, and now it is faster and better than any other phone today.

It's great to see paul again. I agree with paul none of that problem can be seen in my sgs. Again the number of daily interest drop significantly...that very upset.

The super amoled screen is great but gsmarena seem to hav let that completely seduce them when reviewing this handset. Dont get me wrong, its a great piece of kit but my main issue is with the UI, which is frankly poor and really lets the phone down.
I love swype and i like the feature whereby u swipe a contact's name one way to call them, and the other to message them. But it is ridiculously laggy given the hardware which lurks inside. Honestly its a joke at times. Lets not forget that this isnt just a mid range handset but a real attempt to usurp the iphone and with a ui like this it just isn't going to happen. The handset just freezes and then all of a sudden it jumps several screens at once as it catches up. I hav also found a major problem with the contacts and messages screen, whereby a message is received but the phone indicates it as being received from a different contact. Literally i had only two threads, one with messages to my mum and one to my dad, and despite the fact that the phone indicated the the threads were for the correct people, when i opened one to write a message, the area at the top of mums thread displayed dads number and vice versa. I didnt notice this at first so, consequently, mum got all of England's football goal updates and dad received a string of txts about how i was looking forward to my holiday. Absolutely shocking for a top of the range mobile, and yet gsmarena seem to think an admittedly impressive screen should warrant no mention of the UIs limitations.
My other gripe is merely opinion but why have 7 home screens and set the default screen to screen 1. the Desire.allocates the default screen as four which is where the live maps wallpaper shows your position centrally and it saves pointless amounts of scrolling
the desire also lets u see all your screens as thumbnails by pushing the home keym.
I think the seven screens were added to the galaxy s for the purpose of chest beating rather than as a genuinely useful tool. Am seriously tempted to trade in for a desire or iphone if froyo doesnt solve any of the problems.
