    - What is swype feature
    - Are the apps as good as apple gadgets.

mahesh, 23 Aug 2010Hi dude ! I m confusd btwn nokia n8 and galaxy s. Which is ... moreof course you should choose n8 because Galaxy s is boring and laggy what makes everything worse is that Galaxy s have a bad camera with no flash. N8 is way better with camera and quality.

cool phone (the hardware) but some things in UI should be polished. I just exchanget it for Desire. Same shit. Android is still unfunctional in sense of lacko of contacts and calendar integration. I cannot add a reminder to CALL Susan, just by clicking Susan in contacts. I have to type Susan's phone number from my memory (my head or a piece of paper) instead of select it from contacts. Old Nokia s40 series had this 5 years ago. The same Palm about 9 years ago. Lame Google, lame Apple (iPhone also has not got this).

Can the GPS be used without connection to the internet. I want to know if I can download Google maps in home country for use in country I'll visit - and not have to use a data connection whilst overseas.

I had the option either to go for iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy with no price difference as I bought it under contract but having both phones in hand, I opted for Samsung Galaxy and I've no regrets; its the slickest, sexiest beast in the market as of now; even if Android is not your game; go for it; you would not complain.

Battery timings are of an issue a little; if you use YouTube & 3G data a lot - expect battery to last for about 9-10 hours; otherwise talktime/standby is excellent. I've not explored the DLNA option but that sounds exciting; another thing which I would like to mention that perhaps this is the only phone which can give you 5.1 channels of sound quality, I've not seen any phone with such a capability.

Nothing can be said about the Super AMOLED screen - when it comes to LEDs/LCDs, Samsung is the worldleader in that department.

I never expected Samsung to come up with such a phone; I always thought that there phones are for kids or teens; but trust me; this phone would sure prove a record breaking phone!

                                My three weeks with SGS:

I was using SE W830i a walkman phone, I feel SGS need to be more user friendly...
Ya i got lot to explore abt DLNA etc,...I 'll keep posting abt my exp...

                                1) Battery life is poor, heavy usage 10 Hrs.
                                2) Need to have better application management (Hope Froyo solves this).
                                3) Volume up and down should also work for previous and next track.
                                4) GPS needs a tweek (Froyo should solve this).
                                5) My KIES connectivty not yet solved on WIN 7 (i am not configured correctly, i believe)
                                6) Samsung key pad should also have numbers in first row, for quick typing.

Battery life is upto u usage, I ll buy a alterante battery.
Tks for the users helping me to configure this awsm gadget

Well, i am using the Galaxy S for like 2 weeks now, it has everything you might need / want. It does not lag, no signal problems, easy to use and decent battery life (i wi-fi a lot). All in all, one of the best phones i used so far and yes i switched from a 3GS.
                                  Money well spent.
