can you turn of the internet connection via network, and use only the wi-fi??i've seen somewhere that's not possible, so every time you are going online, it's going only over the network, even if you have an wi-fi...
i'm gonna buy this, but only with 100mb/month of data...if i can't turn it of, and every internet connection is using my mb's, it's gonna be really bad. :-)

Do not use a usb port from your pc to charge the phone.
Just use the original charger which came with the phone.
And make sure not to charge the battery the first 5 times before you get the pop-up sign 'low battery'.

This is well known for every new Li-Ion battery.
Don't unplug the battery/phone if you see a full 'battery icon'. Wait for approx. a nother 30 mins. because if the icon shows 'FULL', the battery is only charged for 90% or so.
This should be fixed in an fw-update ;-)
About the back-cover;
What do you do with the phone to make the back crack?
Mine is fixed solid to the phone and very tight without any sound of cracks what so ever!
The reason for the thin back-cover is clear:
You don't want to have an antenna problem like Apple do you?
So if the back-cover is made out of metal or thick plastic, the antenna has to be more powerful to get the radiation through the material (if it gets through) which will reflect in the battery stand-by time because that would cost more energy ;-)
That is why the antenna from the SE Experia 1 is placed around the flash.
The back cover of the SEX1 is made out of metal...

I'm very demanding as a user, just returned iphone 4 due to problems with hanging up on calls maybe att or phone can't say.
I need speed and reliability and demand only perfection.the galaxy is meeting my high standards so far.
Unlike iphone it has speech prompting-great for driving.no extra charges for voice navigation. Lag on anything.finally a processor that can equal the needs of a smart phone.
As of today this is the king of smartphones!
Extremely fast phone, connection is fast but also phone doesn't

Had mine for a week. Expectations were sky high after the review by GSM Arena. I'm liking the phone but not blown away. I appreciate all the good stuff others have talked about, but here are some gripes. Battery life is awful. Fully charged battery dropped to 50% in 10 hours of almost no use (wifi, bluetooth off, no calls). A full charge last less than a day with normal use. How can I keep a phone that will run out before I get home again? I hope its a defective battery. Second, the much discussed problems with Kies and general transferring files into phone. I think one of the solutions suggested works, but havent tried using it again. Third, the plastic back cover with the 5 cent feel. It creaks. I can live with the 2nd and 3rd issues, but the battery is another matter...

Samsung's high end Galaxy S smartphone is set to get an update that will bring with it version 2.2 of the Android platform, the company has confirmed.
Galaxy S phones will come with Android 2.1 and be upgradeable to Android 2.2 which will support Adobe Flash 10.1," said Samsung via its Twitter account.
It is clear that Samsung, like Google, is pushing the fact that Android 2.2 offers native support for Flash whilst Apple has completely booted the platform from its new iPhone software.
Samsung will have to take time and make sure that its TouchWiz interface, which sits on top of the standard Android offering, is fully compatible with version 2.2 of the platform before it launches the Galaxy S update.
Available now, the handset teams great built-in Google apps as well as the chance to download thousands more from the Android Market.
The phone is also home to a five megapixel camera, an expansive touchscreen, a media player and video editing software.

maniak, 17 Jul 2010do samsung galaxy s have a tv out???? Yes it does have tv out... displays at excellent tv quality, both image and sound, used it loads of times already, i used a standard cheap nokia tv out cable, works a charm... very useful for showing HD 720p /.mkv files in a non HD tv without having to convert anything!
