ok, so i've emailed a couple online vendors and asked specifically if their Galaxy units had LED flash like their product pages claimed. they've confirmed that the phones have LED flash. but i remain a skeptic, since i havent seen a photo of the phone where the flash is visible.

so for all you out there complaining about the absence of flash - you may not need to worry after all

I would LOVE to see a good dual LED/Xenon arrangement on a top-notch smartphone, but its not much of a deal breaker for me. For instance, I was REALLY rooting for the X10, but the apparent lack of multi-touch due to hardware issues put it out of the running.

Let's face it, outside of a couple phone models, flashes -Xenon or LED- are substandard anyways. I avoid using a flash whenever possible, because more often than not, they make a picture worse in all but really bad lighting conditions.
And, the lack of a flash doesn't render HD recording useless.

Of course, it all depends on what kind of user you are. I almost never use a phone camera unless I need to take a picture, and I don't have my P&S on me. If your phone is your primary or ONLY camera, then I can understand

How many top-shelf smartphones have a great camera with a great flash? Not many. Even the X10 only has a LED flash. I would think that once manufacturers consider what is most important to most of their target customers, a great flash quickly falls by the wayside. Better flashes add to bulk and cost to the unit, and are a greater drain on the battery. And for many heavy smartphone users, a camera is an essential but ultimately secondary function of the phone.

Everybody bent out of shape of the fucking thing...and it In it.
          Can WE all relax now?

Can the Android be updated to 2.2?

just a personal suggestion to phone manufactures out there. If a person is worried about over exposure of images,i would hope that there is this mechanism where we can set the brightness of the flash according to our preference (just like those lights in cinemas).. so, the light flashed out would be just right.. hmm, is it possible to do so?

Even if I disagree a little with you because I think that this feature is a must in every high end phone even if your not using it but it must be enabled since we are speaking about a high end phone with HD recording, but still I respect your opinion and point of view, and if this is what your convinced in and your fine with it, then go for it, and I hope you will be happy and satisfied with the device in the future, let's just hope samsung sticks to their word and provide you with good support, not like what they did with the omnia hd in the past :>

They tend to over expose the picture so i never have them enabled, even with my 12mpx digital camera, and my samsung i900 omnia, I turn the flash off with both of them.

Like others who have posted here, the picture quality is determined by the lens, not the damn flash. for all we know, the lens on this phone could be very good, enabling it to let in enough light through it's aperture which will result in great pictures/video.

Pretty much, having an LED flash is only good for a flashlight, which, unless u have a blackout of something, is not that very useful. If you can show me some pictures taken with an LED flash, in low light conditions, AND manage to make them look good, i'll take back every single word i've said.
