AnonD-45556, 08 Mar 2012Hi. i bought this fone last year in july and did upgrade f... moreMy phone worked fine on the Froyo, had one or two issues on Gingerbread 2.3.3 nothing serious but went wild when upgraded to 2.3.5. Contacted Samsung, they sent it to service centres for 3 repairs(already took to local centre for 2 repairs)but they just kept replacing the software - didnt work. My phone was bought Nov 2010 but they have 2 year warranty so samsung now sending me a new one. You should contact them and see if they will replace yours(have to have 3 repairs first)It's so frustrating when you can't use your phone as it was intended, mine is constantly on charge! Good luck

My phone/battery was fine until my latest upgrade to 2.3.5, instantly started draining the battery, disconnecting and reconnecting wifi. I bought a new battery which altered nothing. Phone does not like the new upgrade!Had it repaired 5 times now, finally getting a replacement from Samsung. After one of the repairs they had put it back to Froyo and wifi was ok but if the phone does not accept new software then it is faulty.

Aj, 06 Mar 2012What's the difference in these three OS: gingerbread, froyo... moreThey are all updated versions of the same Android, bigger updates are given a new name, Froyo is an update to Eclair that gives support for Adobe Flash... and Gingerbread is an update to Froyo that gives better performance, and Ice Cream Sandwich is an update for both Gingerbread and Honeycomb for tablets making only one combined os for both phones and tablets.

galaxy s, 04 Mar 2012I'm in confusion between sony ericsson neo v and this galax... moreSamsung Galaxy S1 is also my 1st Android phone.
been using china phones for quite a while so it feels good to finally have an Android phone.

in terms of screen size, Galaxy S1 is 4-inch.
while the ericsson is only just 3.7-inch.
                              the resolution are pretty close.
but i'd still go with Galaxy S1 because of the size of the screen.

for the camera's, both are like the same 5MP camera.
just google for any comparisons for both of those phones.

Android 2.2 and above has an internal auto task manager which kills tasks as resources are needed. Just because an app is "running" doesn't necessarily mean it's really running processes and consuming battery; in fact almost all apps "running" in the background are just loaded in memory not using battery. So killing your apps every 30 minute will result in more battery consumption than just letting them sit on the memory because they will consume battery restarting. Why is this you might ask, well, when you open an app your phone has to do a lot of processes to start that app which consumes battery, but if that app is already loaded in the internal memory then your phone saves all those processes every time you open that app.
Some apps you can't kill, for instance Google Maps. Google own Android; Google own Google Maps, and the code is written so that the Maps are always running. You can't stop it, I KNOW!
Download a Task Killer from the Market to help. I personally use one named Advanced Task Killer for Froyo. It works splendidly even though I am running Gingerbread v2.3.6, and use it often. This app can kill all the apps you want to close with one click of a button.
If your battery is running down as fast as you say then I suspect that it is faulty. I would invest in a new one.

I am no expert on rooting but people here and on you tube could help. I gave up trying to stop the rebooting apps as like you say even task killers dont kill them. Its also the same on the Sony phone I have. if you only get a few hrs battery then a new battery seems the problem.
