I have had this cellphone since 2011 and it is fairly durable I dropped it a couple times and it resisted impressively). Other than that: I had problems with the virtual keyboard crashing frequently, the battery time is low, can't watch videos from youtube with the youtube app and can barely sustain a video stream directly from the browser, also the silver metal imitation paint has mostly come off and I'ts now a silver plastic color... By far the worst thing is that it has a single core processor - which is not enough for smooth transitions between screens nor for the demands of 3rd person HD gaming.

aziz, 01 Sep 2015how to upgrade with lollipopWell, it's a bit scary if you've never done it. But this is the right place to get Lollipop:
                  http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s-i9000/i9001-development/gt-i9001-cyanogenmod-12-1-adc-team-t3079015

First, you have to root the phone, then you have to install another recovery software, then install the newer Android and other software. I've done it on my stock phone quite some while ago and I didn't write down the steps, sadly. Now it's easier for me because the phone is already rooted. Try that forum and ask for help. There are plenty of users who can guide you.

Well, it looks like you're a turn on. :P

Who knows. I didn't have that problem before I moved to Android 4.4.4 and not even after that.

you can upgrade to lollipop by rooting your phone & then flashing custom ROM. You can download custom ROMs for this device from xda forum. just search 'i9001 xda' on google & go to that link which contains android development in it. Then download any custom rom from there that you like.

My memory is often beyond 300/350. Can I bring this further down even after closing the running app? My Facebook takes long to open. Will be more grateful if u can post on samson_mbewe@yahoo.com.

So I got this phone in January 2012. It is my first smartphone and have great memories with it. It still works good, but I use it now just to listen to my collection of 1000+ songs. I got a new phone this april ( Galaxy Core Prime ) just because I needed a better phone. This one became so hard to use sometimes, reboots or sudden crashes, that's why I decided to use it just as mp3 player or to use youtube sometimes. But for my first smartphone I used it so much, I had at one point over 25 games on it and all of them worked so smooth and nice. Well, that's it. :D
