just upgraded my s advance to 4.1.2 jb via kies and it rocks... very very good phone for the money you are paying, top of middle class. don't hesitate, just buy it, believe me.

I also experienced lags while playing Temple Run 2. Now everything seems to be fine. Battery life is great too.

To all those who are facing lagging problems in JB,
Try disabling Google Now. It will improve the performance to an extent. If you are still not satisfied, then root your phone and install CoCore Kernel 6.8 (Refer XDA forums for the steps).
I installed CoCore Kernel and my phone is flying. I'm not experiencing drops in frames and lags while playing games.
P.S: Rooting & installing custom kernels will void warranty. If you need to take it to the service center, then reinstall the stock kernel and unroot it.

JB is not smooth at all. I'm using XXLQE (Serbian) and I'm pretty sure it's the same for every firmware, since I've seen many complaints. Even with custom kernel.
Opening dialer, contacts, messages takes 2-3 seconds, browsing through settings is laggy and I've noticed lower FPS in games. Also seen some serious FPS drops occasionally. There's a delay when bringing up the keyboard when you want to type, lag on recorded video, a bit of lag when switching between home screen and menu, delay when tapping on contact widget, lag when placing/removing widgets...
All in all, very choppy experience.
In my experience GB is much smoother and faster than JB. But JB has the looks. Idk why some people are saying it runs for them butter smooth, but it's always without any proof and elaboration.
If you want a fast, smooth and stable OS stay on Gingerbread. With it, you could say it's a decent phone.
I've been using this device with Gingerbread for about a month or so and I'd say having Gingerbread is it's only drawback, since newer ones (Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean) have some cool features and much better looks.

its great.... i mean its best in its price group.... 16 gb internal memory, dual core,4 inch super amoled screen.... what else do you need.. all other mobiles in this price group are single core... so go for it.

Had anyone tried USB OTG in this phone with official jellybean??
PS: USb OTG is supported in Android 3+ phones provided the kernel is supporting the same...

im vry confuse guys plz help me out as evry mobile has its own merits and demerits n unable to find out which one to buy among these
1) galaxy s advance ( demerit its lag after update to jelly beans)
2) galaxy s duos ( demerit no HD n single core)
3) lg optimus l5 p455 ( dnt knw mch abt this)
4) xperia u (demerit just 3.5 inch n no memory card)

im a user of s advance since a mnth....got this from flipkart for 12825 rupees....at first it lagged a lot while playing subway srfrs and while playing hd videos...but after some days it is going to work superb......now,no lag even i am playing high end games like frntline commando and dead space,and final combat and need for speed most wanted...go for it....by experience i am telling u.....this mobile is a great piece from samsung.....

i think s advance will run smoother with jelly bean only if it has 1 gb RAM. that is why new SAMSUNG android mobiles with jelly bean os comes with 1gb ram and more than 1ghz dual core processor. only because of this insuffient ram our s advance is facing some lags other wise it would hav been great update for samsung s advance. and though samsung galaxy s duos has 768 mb ram samsung has stopped giving jelly bean update to s duos because of single core processor. and aslo some times s duos is facing lagging, slow speed and hanging problems in its ics os it may be due to insuffieint processor
so for s advance users gingerbread is pretty good os which is a lag free os even u can play high end games in gb with out any lags . if u really want to enjoy jb then pay some more penny and prefer galaxy grand or s3

Just updated my Galaxy S Advance to Jellybean 4.1.2 yesterday from Samsung Service Centre. Smooth like butter. Wonderful nifty interface. Also using my 32 GB SD card. No lag. Evrythng fine.
Suggest evryone to update only from Samsung Service Centre.
Pros:
1.Fast interface
2.Well arranged Settings menu
3.Faster internet
4.Camera now has 4x zoom
5. Memory 625 MB up from 555 Mb
6.More space for app shortcuts on homescreen
Cons:
1.Polaris Office Suite gone
2.No Task manager App, has to long press home button
