sammy s2, 06 May 2011guys, today I went to phone 4u and hold the actual phone in... moreI don't reallly care how the back looks or how slim it is. I will probably only take it off the first time i insert the battery. I have seen the unboxing videos and they say that it fits perfectly and there is no movement, so that is good enough for me. I used to have the Samsung wave and being in a metal body the phone would heat up very quickly, I think they have used this plastic back to disperse heat better that a metal case would. peace out.

sammy s2, 06 May 2011guys, today I went to phone 4u and hold the actual phone in... moreThe back cover is not great I admit but after having the phone for 4 days I forgot about it and appreciated the positives. I now have a gel case which covers it (and gives phone added weight which is welcome) anyway its not as if the back cover will be removed too often so its not an issue. Just because something is made of plastic does not indicate that a product is of inferior quality. Its possible that Samsung chose a plastic cover to keep it light and slim and also to help with heat dissipation as its a powerful phone. I truly hope that people don't base their buying decisions on the back cover alone as they really would be missing out big time! Peace

I'm pleased to say I've had a week with both this and the Optimux 2X and that was long enough to decide which one I prefer.

To begin with, in my opinion, the O2X is built better of the two. Neither are going to win any quality awards (for that I still think the iPhone 4 sets the bar) but as a modern, well screwed together handset the O2X takes it. Unfortunately that's where LG's superiority ends. Samsung's UI feels faster, smoother and more polished. The weight is good (a bit light for me in fact), the screen is delicious and the power saving is vastly superior.

Power saving may be down to Android 2.3 (The LG ships with 2.2 with an upgrade due later) but the reason I returned the LG is that in work where reception varies between patchy and nothing, but where I can't switch to aircraft mode as I need to see the few texts that make it through, it would get worryingly hot as it tried in vain to lock on to a signal. This would not only suck the life out of the battery it would also eventually leave the handset with no network connection even when I moved into a good signal area and it would stay like that until I rebooted. Not sure if hardware or software was shutting the radio off? Add to this the occasional software freezes and two hard lock-ups and it was clear this piece of stunning hardware wasn't ready for the big time (yet). 2.3 might make it all sing but I didn't want to take that chance.

The G2S however behaves impeccably in the same situatuion (as did my iPhone 4) with no unexpected heating and no obvious battery drain either.

As for the flimsy back, if you're forever changing your memory card it might be an issue but for regular users I doubt it'd be a big deal. I'd imagine it's not too expensive to replace if it did break anyway. In fact think yourself lucky you can get into the back.
If you can get over the hype (I never deliberately look at my phone from accute angles or invite groups round to watch films, have never missed a train because my phone lagged by a few milliseconds and never pulled a muscle carrying a handset that weighed 20g more than another) then I think the Galaxy S2 is probably the best out there at this precise moment, but as we all know we'll be wanting something else in 3 months time. Excellent phone, not a new messiah.

Has anyone ordered from Korea? I am interested in the Korean version which includes NFC.

Is there any difference in UK and the Korean version of Galaxy S2 apart from the presence and absence of NFC.

Any language problem in the software?

I cannot post this without addressing outstanding issues so here goes.
If you pick a nickname that is a from a comedy franchise then you would think that would be an expression of you demeanour. NO ! first three lines just ords and those who read it, HE TURNED. Worst case of Galaxian fever SGS II strain I have ever come across. I will be posting stages of SGSII in the well known forum of wikipedia, and whilst I am on wikipedia it seems to me that Samsung are kinda sticking to those release date" I do know the antidote for SGS II is is to purchase an SGSII phone
So back to the above, every time I logged in "When is it going to come to country X?" so I posted and well there you go.

I would offer the hand of friendship to (?) but I actually need it.
The phone The phone The phone The phone The phone. Yes I have seen it, touched it, it's real. Circumstances are cousin holiday wanted phone before holiday I HAVE PLASTIC so ordered it O2 on his behalf and you know that phones are shipped to the billing address, It was the least I could do family.
Had it for over an hour I don't think you even need a manual it does everything! quick answers silenced when turned over. beefed up security, other people have mentioned HTC Sense wouldn't know but a security feature is linked to GPS which I think is like the HTC?
Did not get that far with security but there it is.
Icons do what they say, it just seems impossible to get lost using this phone allow list running apps! . I did everything WITHOUT looking at the manual once.

Thin for those who don't know what thin is the 3.5mm jack probably limits the phone from being any thinner or put another way did they build the phone around the jack? barely fits
I thought I knew everything about the SGS II, I only have stage 4 SGS II fever (BTW how is it spread?)
but this is no experience I have ever experienced (copy! oh come on now)
this is to put it mildly just a (highly contagious) dual core phone, the phone just does it after 5 minutes it just good (ratcheting expectations down) , too many words INTUITIVE
google search icon question answered, lag what lag. There is a reason why I waited i just thought I would be surprised at a few thing, I could not have been more wronger, you are all expecting that brilliant quote, "SGS II"

In a nutshell I wanted a Nokia or HTC that well bought us to LG 2X. Minding my own business singing my song "Gonna buy an LG 2X dual core phone baby , I'm so happy LG baby"
Then MWC SGS II announced at first I thought they got the specs wrong but they did not.

I don't really need to upgrade my phone and not being a snob you could not give me a single core phone!
Not being a snob I could not and would not settled for any dual core phone currently available or due for release, any premium phone whose specs were announced since September 2010 could give my current mobiles a lesson in telephony, the sad part is that I may have to buy another phone as my non-smart touch phone is "resistive" and I literally could not get it to work after the SGS II.

you want the above in 3 words "IT'S NOT HYPE"

now stage 6 SGS II fever

Yes it is real thin, but that was only to reserve the fact that this is the thinnest smart phone and to keep it weight and cost efficient. And it is surprisingly sturdy for itself. Like you said. You had no problem until you knew about the back cover. It has a good feel, it stays in place, it's slip resistant, and it keeps the phone very very slender. If they had figured out a way to do all that with a sturdier one it would have been great, but all in all this one does it;s job.
