[deleted post]How to ROOT + CWM FLASH Galaxy SII GT-i9100 Instructions
DOWNLOAD Odin3v1.85: http://stockroms.net/file/Tools/ODIN/Odin3v185.zip
DOWNLOAD CF-Root Kernel: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS2/kernels/ICS/CFRoot
1. Extract the CF-Root Kernel to get the CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5.tar file.
We recommend extracting it to a convenient location, such as your Desktop.
2. Turn off your phone.
3. Put the Galaxy S2 in Download Mode. You can do this by pressing and holding down
the Volume Down key, Home button, and Power button together. When a “Warning!”
screen will come up, press the Volume Up key to enter Download Mode.
4. Double-click on Odin3 v1.85.exe to launch it.
5. In Odin, click on the PDA button. Navigate to where the CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5.tar
file is and select it. Do not make any other changes to Odin. Make sure thatRe-partition is NOT checked.
6. Connect your phone to your computer. You should see an “Added!” message in Odin’s lower left message box.
If you don’t get this message, there may be something wrong with your USB drivers.
Make sure that you’ve properly installed them.
7. Hit the START button in Odin to begin flashing the CF-Root Kernel.
8. When flashing is complete, your phone will automatically reboot. When you see the Samsung logo,
you can safely disconnect your phone. On the Odin window, you’ll also see a PASS message with
a green background in the upper leftmost box.
9. If Odin gets stuck and doesn’t seem to be responding, or if you receive a FAIL message,
close Odin, remove and reinsert the phone’s batter, and start over from step 3.
Congratulations! Your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 running Android 4.0.4 build XXLQ5,
has now been rooted and has ClockworkMod Recovery. Enjoy your root privileges.
(Cold startup booting CWM, hold VOLUME UP + POWER at the same time to boot into CWM)

[deleted post]That you wanna ROOT i understand but why would you wanna format your phone, if you format then your whole system goes bye bye and your left with an empty useless phone.. :\
It's easy too ROOT the Galaxy S II and CWM Flash it, then you should install RR v.3.1.0 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on it instead of ICS, ICS stock rom sucks big time!!
Give me a few minutes and i'll post a how to ROOT and CWM FLASH your Galaxy S II at the same time..

I need your help.
I have upgraded my S2 now i want to root and format handset. Is there any probleme by formating?? If I format,do I need to upgrade the firmware again?? Or it will work at ICS??

AnonD-29855, 24 Oct 2012s2 or note 2 Note is better than s2 in the case of battery life(s2-1650mah,note-2500mah).But because of its size nt suits 4 all travellers.note screen size is 4.8",super amoled hd,1.4ghz processor and notable features than s2.

The Samsung ICS 4.0.4 stock rom on Galaxy S II is CRAP! compared to RR v.3.1.0 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 running on a Galaxy S II, with the RR v.3.1.0 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 rom Galaxy S II kicks some serious ass with crazy high improved PERFORMANCE and RAM etc!!
So what are you guys waiting for, ROOT + CWM FLASH + install RR v.3.1.0 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 your Galaxy s II NOW!!

I have upgraded to the 2000MAH orginal battery from samsung, and the latest firmware 4.0.4, this new firmware has increased the battery life then the 4.0.1 or 0.3
overall nice fast phone.

Wow the s2 wifi portable hotspot feature is super awesome, almost touching 500kbps when connected to the laptop!!!

bt i am confuse in Galaxy S... moreS2 is far way better than
it has got a mali quad core gpu vs the single core mali gpu of xperia p
a 1.2 exynos processor
and the camera is the best.....

Guys, if you are having battery life issues.. try flashing your S2 with Resurrecti on Remix 2.6 with Siyah Kernel. After installation google tweaks for battery performance. Remember to reset the fuel guage on extweaks as well
