Mark, 13 May 2012How i can updated my phone from 2.3.5 ginger version to 4.0... moreit depends which country you're from. Since i bought this phone i got new updates every 3 months, when i got this it started at 2.3.3 then after exactly 3 months i got new updates of 2.3.5 then after another 3months when i checked out new updates ( under ABOUT PHONE setting ) it said new updates available that gave me 4.0.3, i didnt kies or any pc for this process and it took 20 to 30 minutes to it, just keep on checking on your phone software updates. Im from Australia

mix review regarding ICS, i kbow TC don't like the ICS, but my question would be, could this be because of rooted phone?
mine is not rooted but love to upgrade.
you think its better to wait few more months to make sure all the problems sorted?
I love the S3 performance but NOT the shape. I wait for S4

I'm using the white SGS2 & believe me, people stare at mine as it is not that available in peoples' hands. I really like the capacitive keys light, and the back cover of my SGS2 white is as good as, if not better, as the black one. It is just your way of liking a phone. The white one costs more because it looks more cool (again, just my opinion) than the black one. If you have time, you should check the white one as well. But I agree with you in one thing, don't go for i9100G, that is DEFINITELY not the same as i9100, the original SGS2.

Andy-83 apk and Andy-85 apk and Andy-86 apk is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942332 but they can not be used on any stock S2-rom but can all be used on MIUI, and CM7 but MIUI http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/archived-versions-sgs2-gb.16393/ is much better/stable... and have FM-radio "best gingerbread rom ever"!

i got friend that had bought GT-i9100i at only RM499 !!

Ive been using ICS for a couple of months now and from my own perspective, it is a worthy upgrade BUT, ICS is still new so it has incompatibility with some of the apps and games. I tried Real Racing 2 and some others, it worked on Gingerbread but not on ICS. But since I have my PS and PC to suit my gaming need, so it hardly is a problem for me.
But on the bright side, ICS has tremendously increased the overall performance especially on web browsing speed and rendering. Battery life is improved too but I think it is purely subjective right. I got at least 24 hours on single charge with games, web browsing and lots of phone calls.
Some tips on battery saving, root your phone, disable/freeze bloatwares, location services, automatic syncing, plus dial *#9900# and 'disable fast dormancy'.

And please please please explicitly ask for GTi9100 instead od GTi9100G. They are totally different under the hoods.The G version lags more, and have little support on XDA dev. And often incompatible with current HD games.

Its one of the few dual core phone to walk proudly along quad cores these days (with exception from HTC OneS) so talk about future proof right. ! haha
what I like, is the bright and clear SuperAmoled+, powerful graphics, good support from XDA dev, removable battery and expandable memory (because most newer phone dont have it) and I dont know maybe the whole package ? lol. Its about RM1400 right now in our domestic market so I guess its a pretty good deal.
A little advice for those who complains about oversaturating display, heads up to display setting, under 'screen mode', select 'movie', youll see no more oversaturating problems with your display.

Hi guys, I have been using S2 for the last year. I have recently upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 so I thought I would share my views. I live in New Zealand and the chances of getting ICS are slim so I upgraded to a polish rom via xda developers. The first thing I noticed was that the phone response had improved vastly. The multitasking is much improved. When watching videos were you stopped all videos restarted from where you left them, you tube as well. This happens with all applications and pushing in the home button for a couple of seconds brings up the task manager. The battery has taken a little hit for me but I have read other forums where for some people have had increased battery so it depends on usage and whatyou use your phone for. I have noticed that when I use nova launcher instead of touch wiz the battery increased. Overall the update to ICS is a great compliment to an amazing phone. I will not be buying the S3 not because I dont like it but because I think the gain for the price over this phone is not worth it. If you are looking at a smartphone that will be at a good price the S2 is a phone you cant go wring with. Peace out

I have flashed it to a polish 4.0.3. Rom with no probs. The guide gives you step by step instructions. Good luck
