My first is Omnia HD and the sound is very loud.
SGS2 is my second Samsung unit, also the sound is loud and clear.

Nobody is giving that information, where did you get that? It is only scratch resistant.

I'm also in Oz with a GS2 and frustrated about how long it's taking for an update to newer versions of Gingerbread. But I hearts from my mate (who works for the Telcos) that we're gonna bypass 2.3.4 and go straight to 2.3.5 sometime at the end of the year. I hope Samsung holds true.
But with the announcement of ICS, I want answers (and actions!) about that instead!

Samsung Galaxy S 2 = Everything . Its a mobile phone ,tablet,tv,laptop,pc,psp,fm radio,gps navigater,good point and shoot camera,HD cam corder,flash light pendrive,video conferencing device cant remember other things right now however know that u guy will help and dispite having all those gadgets in one gadget it fits in ur pocket being very light waighted and affordable for comman man too. and is sensable choice if u want mobility and i guess everybody wants to be mobile now a days and people are becoming more gadget knowledgable these days they know what they need ,Samsung Rocks.

AnonD-28141, 28 Oct 2011Its time for samsung to concentrate on increasing the speak... moretrue...this is exactly what i disliked about the fone's hardware. the speakers should have been on the side or top like nokia e71... when its on bed u actually cannot hear the call sometimes. hope they change it in the successive phone models

AnonD-18025, 28 Oct 2011In "Call settings", what is meant by "Turn o... moreNo it doesnt have something to do with the ear piece volume, but with the proximity sensor during the call, it switch off the screen when the hanset is in your ear ( to save some battery life ), but if if is on loud speaker mode the screen wont turn off.

Its time for samsung to concentrate on increasing the speaker volume and the placement of speakers. Its not audible when the mobile is kept in bed since the speaker is at the back.

Whatever mobile is released by samsung, it has very low volume when compared with other mobiles especially sony. Its time for samsung to concentrate on increasing the maximum volume of the Voice call ringtones and Music Player.

The term 'whatever-proof' is a general term. Do you really think a bulletproof vest is 100% totally bulletproof? No, any bigger calibre of ammunition than those normally use in common handguns/riles can still penetrate the best bulletproof vest in the market. The word 'proof' simplys state that as long as u dun use something out of extrordinary or use any methods on purpose, it wun get scratch. Like, do u place a pen knife w/o its housing in your pocket? What are u doing it gets so rough that the keys in your pocket are applying 1000psi onto the your phone screen? In normal usage, it wun get scratches, but if u rub it hard on a rock, scratch it with penknives, jump on it a hundred times on the road, yes it will scratch.
For those who are afraid, just get a SP to keep your mind peaceful =) Anyway, Screen protectors are good for anti-fingerprint. Peace.
