Just wondering when will be an Arabic version of 2.3.4

Samsung is doing a great job with that to be honest.

was quite disappointed with the very fragile batt cover and the very squarish keypad (prfer rounded edges like those of iphone and htc). however, overall, works faster than any phone in the market right now.

I had started my research on Android phones a long time back. Their championing of the "Open" cause vis a vis Apple's iron-fisted control pushed me into the Android bandwagon. A rebel with a cause-Android (ya ya Google mints some money out of the bundled search too...)

Had been in love with Sense, Htc's unibody construction and other functional tweaks (read "Locations"). But HTC terribly disappoints with its Sensation from a purely performance and features perspective. Older gen Chip tech, with a measly 768MB RAM and a pathetic 1GB internal memory is not what you expect from a class leading Android innovator for their flagship phone (Not mentioning the Display comparison with the gorgeous Super Amoled Plus in S2). Not when we are paying premium for a phone with guaranteed obsolescence in 6 months. The least we must expect is on par with the current best at least in term of technical specs.

Here HTC's Sensation disappoints and Samsung's Galaxy S2 takes the crown. GS2 is class leading in each and every aspect bar the pixel count (480 x 800 pixels to Sensation's 540 x 960 pixels). This will result in sharper text and native format movies. Technically this is the only spec which Sensation bests GS2 on. But let me tell you, if you are a die-hard HTC fan head over heels in love with Sense UI and the solid HTC construction, you may still love it. But for every other unbiased gadget freak, GS2 takes the cake.

Now lets move on to the real deal, bought my GS2 a month back. It’s frankly amazing. The performance is super-smooth and flawless. The only area where we would love significant progress is the battery backup. And let me clarify here that with Wi-Fi & sync (3gmail accounts, 1 outlook account, face book, gtalk, pulse) on (with 3G and GPS off), managed to get more than a day’s performance (from morning 8 am to evening 11pm) with 15-20 mins calls, 5-10 mins video, 30 mins normal gaming, and 2-3 hrs tinkering with the phone (downloading new apps, trying em out, etc etc). With limited Wi-Fi and manual sync, managed to get more than 25 hours plus on a single charge which is pretty good. But guess we can always do with more battery oomph, right?

In short, there is no lag in launching apps, watching slick videos(full HD and all formats(whatever I have tried as yet)), browsing is super-fast(Firefox and opera seem to be the fastest), and it’s so light and slim. I love it

But a few pointers for those who are planning to go for this handset, buy a good case and screen protector (before-hand); personally I feel Case-mate has the best; but they may not be easily available for those outside US and Europe. Any other tough case should work well. A tough case is a necessity as the handset feels very light and fragile. The fragile aspect is the only negative feeling abt the handset. Of course, not being a tech-journalist means that I am not supplied by Samsung to test the toughness of GS2.

So there it is...Everything is great about this phone...Only areas of improvement; screen pixels could have been increased to 540 x 960, metal construction would have improved the build quality, better battery life would have been a definite plus(some improvement expected with the imminent Gingerbread 2.3.4 update), and 32 GB internal memory would have been heavenly. For guys and gals in US; you guys would be treated to the Samsung Hercules soon, which is said to have similar specs with an improved resolution...So check it out...

And finally for those out there willing to wait or planning to purchase at the end of this year; do look out for Super smart phones from all Android manufacturers. Rumor is that the latest and next greatest iteration of Android; the Ice-cream sandwich is being launched by Google with their next Nexus, aka Nexus Prime; killer, out of world specs(Super AMOLED HD display with 720p resolution, 1.2GHz or 1.5Ghz OMAP 4460 processor) probably with Samsung as the partner. Simultaneous synchronized launches from all major Android partners with similar specs is expected (read HTC, Motorola, LG, Samsung with own version). This is targeted at the I Phone 5, so whatever the rumors are, the specs will be killer.

So the question is, "To wait or not to wait...?"

Just bought it 2 days ago... Overall it is Great, but i must complain about some things, the earphone/Headset and the Speaker quality is not good enough... I bought Samsung MP4 Player, the quality is good, but this one is not... I hope the next generation of this Cellphone will have a greater Sound quality...
