This phone have a good camera even today in 2016, and if you don't install many apps stil working, let's say ok with 4.2 android!

Automatically switch off without any reason,By long press power button it is restarting so no need removal battery to normalize.

My Sony Ericson did the same, just starting over and over again. I had to retire it, and then got one of these S2´s instead.
Slower, worse camera and a bunch of uneccessary Samsung gadgets, anoying!
Sometimes it just lagging and I have to do a "Norwegian reset" = remove the battery, to get up and running again.

Try to upgrade your ROM to the latest official containing your language. Read my post a little below for more info and links.
If still fail possibly you have some hardware problem and you have to fix/replace your phone

I have had this mob for 3 years now and now it has started freezing and powering off itself and its very frequent I have formatted it I guess 20 times now and also tried reinstalling the software but the problem still remains any experts here to help me

5.0 or 5.1 are good but not so much because phone can not change ringtone very small amount of functions but for the samsung excellent. nevertheless it is working. If any suggestions please inform me. Thanks beforehand.

Using this phone from a long time. Recently update it to 5.1 using the custom rom Cyanogenmod 12.1. Still I can play Need fro speed Real Racing 3 smoothly in it. What a device samsung made. Just Awesome :D

If your phone can not update to 4.2.2 over the air (OTA) through your phone's settings it is maybe because your country or carrier does not support it. i mean no newer version for your country/carrier
You can manually update to 4.2.2 by donloading and installing the latest version yourself using kies and your computer. Just be careful for the continent/region so the ROM you will flash can contain a language you prefer. For example all european roms contain german language. Asian Rom probably not. All ROMS contain engish

I´ve had this phone for more than two years now and it is just PERFECT. Especially the camera is fantastic, even pictures taken in interior have extcellent quality. No problems with restarts (well, it DOES restart itself now and then, but it takes just a couple of seconds and it is not more frequent than, say, once a week).
All in all, after two years and for the price I paid - excellent.
