That's strange because I've just gone into Settings and checked the battery usage and the Galaxy Locker doesn't show any battery drain at all on my S3.

It's the first difference I noticed when I switch to the HTC I use now. It can last more than 24house the way I use a smartphone before it need a charge. When I sleep at night battery may drop 1-2% tops with the SIII that was more like 3% every hour and I'm sleeping. LOL

[deleted post]I love my S3 anyway. The reason why people would think that an update would fix the bugs on their current ROM is because that is what they read everywhere.

Although Samsung itself writes on its website that updating your phone will give you a bug free and enhanced user experience, it is a big lie because they have just been releasing new updates which add bugs to your phone.

When the 4.3 was released for Xperia SP, people were dissatisfied with the terrible battery life. But Sony recently released a bug fixing update which totally fixed the battery life and other issues.

Why can't Samsung do the same?

                          [deleted post]@Anthony

Most of the people here and on other websites, after updating to 4.3, have cleared their cache partition and tried every possible solution, and still experience poor battery life and the same bugs persist. I think there's some files/setting on the 4.3 update which drain battery life and make it unstable.

I am happy with 4.1.2, but I've always really wanted the transparent status bar, the new settings interface and the lockscreen. There's a SLIGHT chance that updating, and following your solution may clear the bug, but there's an equal, or perhaps, a bigger chance of being stuck with the buggy 4.3 forever. What if the latter happens?

The latter has happened to many people, which left them craving for a big update (4.4.2).

I still really love this phone and finds it performing really well with all the work it gets. All the latest S series havent changed much from this phone's features. And Im going to stick with this phone till I find a better S phone with different/new set of features that really beats S III. Hopefully it will be the Galaxy S 7... :)

I'm not telling you to upgrade to 4.3 if you are comfortable with 4.1
but I have and I don't have any new bugs. It's the same old issues.

Once you clear the cache partition before you update you don't get update issues.

Ron, 13 May 2014Planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence in industrial... moreRon.
Not having Android 4.4 doesn't make your SIII obsolete.
Frankly none of the Android updates from 4.0.4 to 4.3 has made a drastic change to the appearance, functionally or efficiency of the SIII.
Is there any app out there to date that will not run because you are still running 4.0.4? I think not. So it's only obsolete in the minds of the people that believe every new thing that comes out is "good" and is a "must have" or they will be missing out on life with the "IT" crowd.
How many of you that were begging for split screen actually use it every day? If I left my SIII on 4.0.4 and not have that feature would it have been a useless phone? I think not.

But with 4.4.2 flash will not run and downloaded apps will be restricted in their write access to the EXT SD
So other than a number how does not having 4.4.2 make the phone obsolete?
And for those who believe that 4.4 was going to fix bugs in touchwiz....... I want to know how you jumped to that conclusion? Android update has nothing to do with the Touchwiz UI (the UI could be updated independently of the Android version if Samsung had something new and exciting to offer but frankly they don't. Every Samsung phone has the same UI.) Google made Android faster and lighter but every version of touchwiz that is loaded on top of Android is more bloated with each new version. Even the brand new "everything" S5 has lag issues because of touchwiz. Do you believe that not having that version of touchwiz makes the SIII obsolete?
I'm using a phone now that was updated from Android 4.3 to 4.4.2 and I can't think of one thing that got better because of the update that makes a difference to how I use the phone.

If you think your phone was great when you got it, I'm saying Samsung hasn't been creative at all with it's new software for the S class so you not missing shit by not upgrading to a next S device.

Planned obsolescence has obvious potential benefits for any producer because to obtain continuing use of the product the consumer is under pressure to purchase again (and again, and again).

Sony had already assured customers the Xperia Play would get ICS and then, there was... nothing at al.

                                      A shameless bunch of excuses.
And a chorus of fanboys trying to brainwash you by telling it is all for our good and in our best interest.

Capitalism depends on programmed obsolence and phasing out their older products always expecting consumers will opt for the company's newer offerings.

I am on 4.1.2 and quite happy with my s3.

But I am pretty sure that the 4.3 users are highly disappointed because they felt that 4.4.2 would solve the battery drain issue, among the many other bugs on the 4.3. Samsung has failed to provide any software update that fixed the bugs on 4.3.

I've myself longed for the new lockscreen and the transparent status bar, but I'm forced not to update to the 4.3 just because 4.3 is so damn unstable and I don't want to regret not being able to downgrade.
