Lots of normal issues will affect sound ie battery charge level signal strength. S3 is a brilliant phone probably the best when it came out. Enjoy it. Ignore comments which are offensive and offer no help at all.

Now just some more questions, please try and help me:
Is it possible move the apps you install to the SD out of the box? Or it's not possible and you need to root and force-move them?

Maybe even that is not possible. As in the Razr i, the SD card is emulated and the system can't use it for apps. How is this in the S3?

How much RAM used and free you get after a reboot? Do you use a custom ROM? What Android version are you using? Have you checked Jkays app?

Have you tried Directory Bind? Does it work for the S3 on JB? It does something.. and moves the heavy data folders from games to the actual external SD.

That link take you right where a comment I posted is. Don't scroll up, it's righ there. There are several pics and the first ones are what is achieved thanks to Directory Bind. It may not interest you so much as you are not gamer and 11GB is plenty of space if you don't install games. But it's really useful!

Odin3 is after market flashing software (it don’t give a sh-t about anything mentioned above. And is used to do manual flashing of ROMs you download to your PC. It will not find ROMs for you. You have to do that work your self.
I get stork roms for any market CSC from

but you have to become a member before you can download.
There is where you most likely would have to go to get your stock updates if you not using kies or OTA

Kies in the official Samsung software that is automated just like OTA but if you screw with anything mentioned above forget using kies to for updates till you fix things back.

I do use TouchPal contacts & dialpad because I can’t deal with that lag. But it would be nice if the default dialler in a PHONE was lag free.

Im not a gamer so I can’t answer gaming questions unless its candy crush you want help with. lol.
Tell me which 3D test app you want me to try for you and I’ll post link to the images. I’m not going to email you.

Hi guys,

Read at many places on internet that S3 has sound issues? You get no sound while calling? Is it really comes in all s3 devices?

Please confirm I was planning on buying this device. but this issues has really got me confused??

BBM is draining my battery fast. It was on 41% at 15:45 when I installed it. At 16:20 it was down to 31%. At 17:16 it was on 23%, and at 18:55 it was 15%. I don't think it will be on my phone for much longer.

So, looks like there isn't much of an issue not to be able to receive OTAs, is it? But does KIES also rejects to update when detects the counter above 0? So KIES also gets unusable for updates, doesn't it?

Is ODIN something like RSD Lite (official software)from Motorola? It's used to flash stock ROMs and to go back to stock. Or is ODIN a custom method?

What I'm interested in is to be able to apply Samsung patches to bugs and the major 4.3 update (easily, if possible). How to do these having the counter above 0?

I think I don't care not being able to receive the OTAs, in such case I'd need to be checking regulary for patches and updates, wouldn't I?

But, how do I check for them? Through ODIN? How does it work? Is it like KIES where you connect through USB and it detects an update is available?
Please share a link to ODIN so I can get to know how it works and don't bother you too much n.n

4.3 is an important update. I hope Samsung gives the S3 some of the goodies of the S4 *IF* that won't decrease its performance, cause that's what I'm more interested in the end.
The dial pad lags? How funny. Can't you use another?

How the performance playing Asphalt 8? Are "Medium" and "High" graphics enabled? And how about NFS MW? Is the frame rate high?

Can you run a 3D Mark test and share the results, please? I can't find that info for the S3! If you could take a couple of screenshots of the results I'd appreciate it very much. You can send them to my email as that is much more easy than uploading and sharing: lovezick_7@hotmail.com I can share with you my ton of very useful apps if you help me!
Oh, btw, have you checked those famous custom ROM (CM, etc) for the S3? Do they add and improve the S3 with no issues?

I really think I'm going for the S3 for my replacement. The Razr i is a very, very good device, but the S3 looks a little bit better anyway.

I am not worried about data, contacts etc as its all linked to my gmail a/c and I can get them back pretty fast by syncing to my gmail a/c. My only concern is about apps & its settings. I got tons of apps and it would be pain in neck to re-install them.
Before I had platinum back up when I had rooted device and it was easy to bring back everything.

One more thing, I am using alternative dialer & sms apps. To be precise Exdialer. Its better than stock. But its annoying that it switches to stock dialer when sb calls me ….I mean incoming calls. Any solution to get rid of stock dialer/contact forever in unrooted device? I know how to do in rooted device though.

1. Stock mean unaltered an made by the manufacture for your device.
2. I think CSC means country sales code. Its used to determine which version of the ROM you should get by OTA updates a.k.a Over The Air update
3. The binary counter is a system used the counter how many times you installed unofficial binary/ROM on your device. (The counter can’t be reset by just hard resetting or flashing the phone.)
4. Kies is Samsung PC software to update the phone if you don’t want to use the Over The Air method.
5. Custom recoveries have more features that some people need. But is not needed if you are just rooting and staying with stock ROMs.
6. if you root, chances are your binary count will go up and you will no longer get OTA updates or Kies Updates but you can manually update using Odin3 on your PC or as you said through the recovery but I never tried the recovery option I have only used Odin3
7. What I want from 4.3 is a more responsive dial-pad and contacts of the S4 as the default now is laggy.
And some of the S4 U.I. changes.

Tip: just before you update any rom, always clear the cache partition from the recovery menu. or some times you will be forced to clear it after and hard reset just to get the phone to start correctly again or to start conflict free.

I waited 6 hours with no reply before a friend told me to forget putting in your email address. When ever you see that screen to put in your email, just go back and try again, till you get the account set-up page instead.
It took me 6 tries after that to get the account set-up page.

Hello dear S3 users n.n I need your help, please!

Something bad happened today, my very nice Razr i got stolen. :/ Never get distracted while on the bus ^^'

Ok, so now I'm in the need of a replacement and looking the carriers offerings there's an offer for the S3 i9300, a good price and it looks like it's the best I can buy as a quick but powerful replacement. Am I right?

I've read 3 pages of this comments section and, what has me intrigued is this... I'm not new to Android and know some about rooting, etc. But, what does this quote mean?

"Remember you must have an Stock ROM, Stock Recovery with matching CSC code, a 0 in your binary counter & not rooted, ****if you want to get OTA or kies updates***."

And what if my S3 is rooted but still uses its stock ROM? Is a custom recovery more useful?

I use to root my Androids and do my own tweakings with ROM Toolbox Pro and other root apps, so I intend to root the S3 as soon as a week after I get it.
What will happen to its ability to receive updates?

I haven't used any Samsung smartphone ever, only Sony and Motorola and looks like they don't have these things.

The quote says "if you want to get OTA or kies updates"

And if I don't want to get OTAs nor kies updates? (Btw, what does that mean exactly?)
How can I update? Is there other way? Downloading and applying the updates through recovery maybe????

Cause it's illogical to think I'll need to unroot for each update or to update to 4.3, for example O.o Please don't tell me that is the case! :O

So, what I need to know is: what options for receiving and applying updates I have if I root the S3 but still use the stock ROM, and what if I change it to some *probably* better CM ROM?

Sorry if my questions sound silly. I'm new to Samsung.

And to end: What custom ROM really (really) improves and adds to what the S3 already is without issues? What are the scores of the S3 in 3D Mark? What do you S3 users expect 4.3 will bring of better for the OS? How about OpenGL 3.0 support? Does it matter much? How about better performance?
I haven't read about that for the S3, so I'm asking you the users. I hope you can tell me, and kindly share some links to info about 4.3 on the S3.
