The "Ultimate GS3 sudden death thread" thread has now reached 380 pages and still going strong:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993044&page=380

There is even an app @ Google Play aimed at letting you know whether your phone will suddenly die on you:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check&hl=en

When will Samsung - as a gesture of good faith and respect for their customers - assume this problem?

Is there a solution for this sudden death that affects SGS3 phones after about 200 days?

Will there be a new kernel? A new firmware with the solution?
We've heard that the new 4.1.2 updates will solve this "Sudden Death Syndrome".
But - unfortunately - that is but a rumour, as Samsung hasn't come forward with an honest explanation.
Can we be sure they're not just simply postponing the problem?

Customers who have paid for their "flagship" phones demand and should deseserve full respect from Samsung.

Samsung cannot keep on pretending nothing is wrong!
It is now up to them to assume the problem and face the reality as any reputable company should.

Otherwise, their good name will suffer and their sales will plunge.

If not this phone's, maybe next model's as word-to-mouth is an effective way of boosting or damaging an brand's game and fortune.

Maybe the worst that can happen to Samsung is not measurable today, but it will be so in the near future, when people will not be buying their new "S4" due to poor S3 customer experience!

Regards

What a great phone this is! The customization options are endless.

I am using four launchers which are go launcher, xperia T launcher, launcher 8 and nova launcher apart from the native touchwiz. So when feeling bored you can use the launcher of your choice and get a brand new home screen.

About battery life, I would like to tell the folks who always complain about it that this phone has a really good battery management and under normal usage conditions it easily lasts for 2 days. But if you are going to use your phone like a computer non stop, obviously it is going to shorten the back up time. However since it has a standard micro usb port you can use any off the shelf cable to charge it from your computer too.

I have a the S111 and love it after having an iPhone 4 (the biggest piece of junk) I will say this the S3 has been bullet proof, and the quality is great, the only let down is I should have gotten the galaxy note for the size.

Is it a new sim card you are trying to use?
I had the same thing happen to me a while back when I tried to use a new sim card. It turned out like this:
If a phone number isn't registered for a long while the network supplier 'recycles' that number onto a newer card and the old card is disabled. You can't register the number because it is now being used by a different customer. Strange but true. My supplier had to give me a new card with a different number which worked fine. This MIGHT be the problem you are experiencing.

Just use it as normal, whenever u like & enjoy the functions & performance.
Why keep worrying about battery backup, I think that means battery life @ single charge.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2013Check this link guys http://www.ibtimes.com/samsung-galaxy-... moreMy personal opinion on this is the ROM chip is being corrupted by the flawed way the phone updates ROMs without quick formatting the ROM chip first. The fact that you can flash a new ROM had still have your old data on the phone without backing up and restoring after, Could never be a good thing in my opinion. And always leaves the possibility for critical data corruption due to file version conflicts

better to be safe than sorry. and clear your cache partition and factory reset after any ROM upgrade.
