I've made it clear before how much I detest Kies.
For those who share my dislike I would point out this piece of Freeware which is much lighter than Kies, and does an equally nice job of looking after your contacts, messages, apps etc.

Before you start, make sure that your SIII is in 'debug mode'.
Goto: Settings/Developer options/USB debugging and tick the box ON.

Reading back what I said now and it’s full of mistakes.
The link below was given to me by freefaller. and it restored my phone to a factory unlocked 4.0.4 phone. Then I upgraded to the 4.1.1. using the link I gave you. (I too had a provider lock 4.0.1 phone)

i just want to ask,im using kies in my desktop windows vista.1 hour before it was running smoothly until a new version arrived,ofcourse i updated my kies into version 2.5.0.1294_27...the problem is when i start running the application an error occured saying kiesPDLR has stopped responding...now i dont know what to do and until now im waiting for this jellybean update,i have a baseband version I9300XXLE8 and a build number IMM76D.I9300XXALE9,can anyone please advise me what to do in this problem of mine..thanks in advance

Yes. I too have got this update of around 25 Mb. It just states an improved stability. Couldn't figure out any major change as yet.

After the installation completes, the phone restarts and automatically found another update for ~5MB. Did that too but don't know what changed!! Any info out there?

Im in Pakistan and today in the morning I got an update of nearly 25 MBs which apparently has had only the animation showing while im calling someone. Anyone else got this update recently ? It is NOT the Jellybean update by the way. My android version is still 4.0.4.

When I install my first Rom and the camera stopped working.
Freefall gave me a link to put back on an unlocked ISC. the site did say it would be needed if you were planning to upgrade to JB.
I SEE now that that is true. Sorry I didn't mention it before.
Go back in the post to where I upgrade mine in the camera was not working and after that you should find the link from freefall I used to put on 4.0.4
Do that one first then to the 4.1.1
SORRY I didn't say it before but I really didn't think it was important.

how can you see the I9300 and I9305 difference of SIII? what do you mean by LTE (regional) compared to the defined specs in I9305???

pretty much regretting flashing this thing to jb now

I was so excited after much research and the commercials to get this phone but after I got it I was extremely unsatisfied almost instantly. In less then 12 hrs the so called "gorilla glass had cracks all over it and I never dropped it, just had it either on the counter or in my pocket. The promises of being about to share data is nothing more then sharing on google+ and anyone with or without this phone can do that. The volume on this phone and the vibration where so light that I missed all my calls and texts for the day. Matter of fact, if I didn't have my old phone I wouldn't have even known that I had text messages. Sadden by this cheap phone, very disposible. I will be returning it after less then 30 hrs with it. I am actually excited to go back to my old old phone.
