But i... moreOindrilla sen- s4 battery needs No calibration - science .. in fact lithium ion batteries ==no calibration ever by customer .. lets say s4 battery is showing 25% charge remaining - then within a 5 minutes low battery alert sounds at 15% because battery strains and drains when phone is under duress of background running apps .. goto apps and click on running apps- n see several system apps running which also shows which running apps using how much of battery ..
samsung -tech experts are NOT basaed in each city as you think .. samsung tech support is nationalcentres in each country - you can telephone or send email for tech info regarding your s4 .. you can actually email SAMSUNG HQ in korea ..
ps- battery drainages is fact of life in all smartphones 2014 ..power hungry apps ...you are polite and proper .. cheers .

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2014SO U CLAIM TO KNOW more than samsung tech experts !!! ha ha... moreSure enough, S4 will give a low battery alert at 15%. But if the battery is not calibrated properly, this alert may be issued by the system when the battery holds, say, 25% charge.
There might sometimes be a discrepancy between how much charge a battery actually holds, and what the Android system thinks it holds. Any alerts that the system sends out depend on the latter.
The whole point of calibration is to correct this discrepancy.
Samsung guys know of Android as much as the average TV technician know of the electronics of semiconductors. If you have found an exception in your city, then consider yourself lucky.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2014SO U CLAIM TO KNOW more than samsung tech experts !!! ha ha... moreOk. just go and ask the so called tech experts that what is the architecture of galaxy s4's processor. I bet they won't be able to tell.

Those people are just people who market the phones well and act like they know so much. All in all if you give them the phone for repair, they'll just backup the data, do a hard reset and flash the latest firmware and then restore data. They know nothing much except that.

i'm not claiming that i know a LOT but at least i know more than them as they know very little.

I think you should do a factory reset and see if it helps.

If it doesn't, get a new battery. A new battery costs around 1000 INR( 18$).

However, you should change the battery as the newer battery gives a much higher time. I never got 5 hour+ on my older battery but the new one easily gets upto 6.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2014darkgamer- 1- lithium ion batteries have NO memory gauage s... moreSorry to be butting in, but I thought I should say something here, for I myself have gained about 30% battery life by the procedure darkgamer has outlined. Li-ion batteries have no memory effect - absolutely right, which means 2 things basically :

                        1. We can charge the battery anytime we want, it matters little whether it has 40% or 80% charge.
                        2. Therefore the 500 charging cycles that you have rightly mentioned can each consist of several partial charging-discharging. This is in stark contrast to Ni-Cad batteries which should ideally be discharged to near 0 before charging again.

Calibration is a different thing with a different purpose. Although the battery doesn't have a memory effect, after several partial charge-discharge, the battery.bin file may reset itself with the result that it will send out a critical battery alert when maybe the battery has 40% charge in actual fact. It has nothing to do with the battery, but how the Android system interprets how much power is left. The same is true of laptop batteries - they also need to be calibrated once in a while.

And dear, don't think the Samsung guys know everything. I am rather tempted to say, based on my 3 encounters with them in 3 different cities, that they know next to nothing.

BATTERY Mah is very low atleast 4000 mah batery need for S4

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2014darkgamer- 1- lithium ion batteries have NO memory gauage s... morePure BS you got there.

The issue the guy is telling there is a clear indication that either the battery is faulty or it's not calibrated.

If the mediaserver was running in his background I'd doubt that he would get even 1 hour on-screen time but he's getting 3.

Don't comment on things you have no idea about. And spend your time in learning english rather than writing BS here.

                            Yes, I can be rude.

Prashant, 22 Sep 2014Any solution of S4's weak sunlight legibility dear Shubham?Just enable automatic brightness and look dead on. I doubt you'll have any problem in reading or other basic stuff.

The screen is decently visible in sunlight. Better than any other LCD except the iphone 5 and 5s.

Take a look at the xperia smartphones or LG ones. They are unusable in sunlight due to very reflective glass. s4 is way better.

Now stop whining about the same issue again and again.

Drain the battery full... moredarkgamer- 1- lithium ion batteries have NO memory gauage set ot reset as you advise .. s4 batteries have a total recycle life of 500 .. working life of any phine battery is roughly 12 months on moderate use .. battery daily drainage from 100% on a new battery is caused by power hungry apps running in the background and of course- web browzing ..
s4 battery gauage reset is your own imagination -NOT SCIENCE .we conctacted samsung who say there is NO SUCH THING AS BATTERY GAUGE RESET FOR S4 ETC..

Drain the battery fully. Phone will shut down. Now start the phone without plugging the charger in. The phone will still start up. Now drain it again. Repeat the procedure till the phone doesn't start anymore. Now plug in the charger and charge up to 100%.

Your battery will be reset. Tell me the results.
