I also was tempted to choose between tne HTC One M8, but its camera dissapointed me. The xperia z 1 or z 1 mini were also between my options, but the S4 was superior mainly in camera quality and other features. I say pick the S4.

No it doesn't.
But it's thicker so it'll distribute the heat and you'll not feel it.
It's all about heat dissipation. There can never be a chip that doesn't generate heat.

HS4, 28 Aug 2014does s-view cover has fan.ha ha ha ..btw- our s4s have s view .. still overheating we have recd samsung firmware dated 23 july 2014 12.00 kst yesterday am 27 aug -ota- 202.69gb.. added kids mode .new knox .. new security policy ..bugs fix ..still on 442 .. overheating less .. all apps optimised .. run faster ..some guys here are fictional -fiction stories tellers .. comics not be taken seriously ..

totally iam gonig to buy a new phone this days . iwant to konw are s4 is a good phone or its disadventages have al danger effect on . and what about comparison by desire 816 htc . which one s or desire ? please i need a help

I bought s4 in second hand its get... moreThere is no problem if it heats up during heavy load. It means the phone is conducting properly.
To reduce the heat, try these:
1. Buy an s-view cover.
2. disable some apps like samsung link, samsung push service and other useless apps that you don't use.
To disable/uninstall them go to settings>more tab>apps>all and then disable.
3. Turn off wifi/GPS/other features like air view, smart stay etc while not using.
4. If nothing works, do a factory reset and repeat these steps. After a factory reset, phone will take 4-5 days to stabilise but after 4-5 days, it'll be as cool as a cucumber.
Have a nice day. These steps will also increase your battery life.
If they don't work, ask me again.

Only 2g &... moreThis phone is only 2G and 3G capable.
If you want 4g, you have to get the i9505 or snapragon version.

I bought s4 in second hand its getting to much heat near camera when used for long time or while playing games
