Actually I am right there with you about the UI, I prefer Samsung's UI over others, that was also a reason why I ended up with S4, even after it had horrible reviews on Flipkart and those kinda sites.
If Z2 heats same like S4, M8 undoubtedly is the phone for me.
No, I don't carry NEX always everywhere, so in those places phone's camera is a must, right, but I am serious about photography, so I mostly carry the camera, however not into my office or those places :)

So I think then m8 is the phone for you. My s4 performs great. I used a g2 and dozens of good phones but still preferred this one. The ui and feel have grown up on me. I feel the vibration adequate. Yet, everyone had its own needs and preferences. Maybe you shouldn't have bought it in the first place.
Do you carry your NEX everywhere. I doubt it. Sometimes we need the phone as it is the only thing beside us. And the m8 is just horrible.
I was just saying to wait for g3 or the premium s5(project KQ.).

S4 is the most popular android so far - any locks u put on - make a SECURE note somewhere of passwords etc .. ENCRYPT your device with a pin LOCK .put simcard lock -pin .and PLEASE dont be misled by FICTITIOUS commentors 24/7 who spread false infos.. any questions - always ask samsung customer services by email or telephone ..cheers .

The main problem with S4 is it has a horribly weak vibration which is causing me way too many missed calls. I don't wear a headset, don't like them. And I run a business, so my clients are my first priority.
Secondly the build quality, needless to say it's horrible, and I hate putting covers to phones, yet I had to put one for the S4!
Camera doesn't matter to me. I am a NEX user, so even the best mobile camera will feel rubbish to me. I don't need a single feature outta Samsung's zillion features given, like Smart everything...
I just need a phone which will have superior build quality, metal obviously, a strong vibration (however it's only Samsung, all the other phones I've seen have much much better vibration, even the LG G2!) and a good display, that's all. Both M8 and Z2 are great. And undoubtedly a huge upgrade for me, I won't even go comparing the S4 with them.
PS : Forgot to mention about the overheating problem. Maybe there are other things too which I've forgotten to point out, it's the whole experience actually. S4 is the only phone in my life that a single day has not passed and I didn't think why the heck did I buy this junk!

The major problem i faced wa... moreI have noticed that after doing a factory reset and disabling the play apps like news movies n others like stranslator gdrive and other apps the ram usage is almost around 1.06 gb and the battery usage by android system is also under control...give it a try

[deleted post]LOL, your comment made my day. The major problem i faced was the high battery usage by the android system. Sometimes it even exceeds the usage by screen and i get like less than 5 hrs of on-screen time. On JB, i often got more than 6 hrs. But the performance is undeniably improved and there is no heating issue. The high usage of android system has a general bad effect on all phoness on 4.4.2 as it is a problem for google as android 4.4.2 has this and google has released 4.4.3 to fix them . We'll hopefully get the update soon.

If 32 GB G2 is out of budget, go for 16 GB s4. it has an sd card slot.
Forget the other 2 . they are just out of competition

AnonD-89109, 27 Apr 2014HTC One, I mean even the M7.I wouldn't say that. Grass on the other side of mountain looks greener. i've used m7 for enough time and it isn't better than s4. the s4 has bigger and better screen, a much better camera, better battery life and a much more functional UI.
the m7 hs it's own advantages. It has better speakers, better design and is fast in general performance.
So it's a call in what a person wants.

However the... moresaurav ghosh, May i know the reason for moving to z2 or m8. As none of them offer a significant upgrade over your current smartphone. I have considered s5 z2 and m8 and read numerous reviews on them and finally decided to pass on due to the following reasons:
m8: No particular upgrade over s4. It has a very large body but smaller screen than s4( due to onscreen buttons). Plus the camera is unusable. You have used s4, you'll feel like you've come to hell. Even the exposure blows off and sometimes it underxeposes. The camera has a lot of problems. Plus the is the same quality as m7 which was worse than s4. The only upgrade you get are an aluminum phone, good speakers and an upgraded chipset. The m8 has no major problems, but I don't like to downgrade on some aspects after shelling out so much money. Plus it doesn't have any special feature.
z2: A stunner in looks, a great camera and waterproof. On paper it's the best phone you can get this season. Also on paper it seems that the screen and battery will be great. But the story is not that rosy. it is plagued by numerous manufacturing defects that people who have got the phone are complaining like gaps in the build. Also i think that these compromise the water resistance. Plus the camera is not that great as it looks on paper. At 20MP mode, you can't use any feature except just shoot, no HDR, no auto mode and just nothing. To use all those features you'll have to go down to 8 MP. Even to use HDR and such basic features. But the 8 MP shots are close to or beat s4's 13 MP shots. So they're good but not as you see on paper. Plus the battery life is worst of these 3 despite having the biggest battery. The reason is overheating. The phone has severe heating problems. If you're fed up with your s4 due to heating, just don't go for this. Plus whatever the live LED shit sony has done, the display is worst among the 3. Plus, sony is not releasing it.
S5: Overall the best phone among the 3 as it has the least problems. It has the best screen ever ( source: displaymate), has a great isocell camera with many useful features and has tonnes of novelties like fingerprint scanner and is water resistant. But the design is still the same plus it is bigger in size. I wanted a different design this time. And the speaker can't compete with m8. a single mono speaker isn't enough for me. I was almost going to buy this but then i read that india is getting the exynos version. So i did a research on that and found that exynos comes with a mali T628 GPU which is 20-25% weak than the adreno 330 in snapdragon 801. Although I don't game but /i don't want an inferior phone at a higher cost. Plus i've heard that the exynos has hearing problems, although not as much as z2, but they're there. The single advantage of exynos version is that it's 20% more powerful than snapdragon in CPU. Unless i get a competent exynos or snapdragon, i won't buy a samsung product.
