AnonD-146121, 16 Sep 2013Samsung recently announced its Heterogeneous Multi-Processi... moreI heard somewhere on xda that there is a chip level defect on exynos 5410 which cripples the chip to only cluster migration and hence it is difficult to do core migration. hence I think it is not likely that it can be done. But maybe samsung gives us a surprise by giving a kernel update as it is very well possible to be enabled by a kernel update.
I can't say anything by now but most likely s4 won't get it due to a hardware problem in the chip.

Samsung recently announced its Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) solution for the Exynos 5 Octa to fully maximize the benefits of the ARM® big.LITTLE™ technology. The HMP capability gives system-level designers the ability to develop solutions that deliver the right combination of high-performance and low-power to carry out tasks such as 3D gaming, complex augmented reality and advanced web browsing.
It is being speculated that this technology solution can be deployed in the Exynos 5410 chipset used by this phone thru a software update, which would improve the performance of the processor by having all the eight cores to function together.
Just wanted to ask the tech gurus here, that do they think its possible to do by a mere software update...?

[deleted post]yeah , I am now commenting from my s4. our mid sems are going on and labs are open till 5 am in night as today is COMPUTER SCIENCE PAPER. I read them all but you don't understand. companies need not advise all things. sometimes you have to apply your brain. factory reset is like a clean install in which all the bugs and corrupted files get removed. after all, the firmware uodate is for fixing bugs and improving experience. I read it on xda developers forum thread by a recognised developer and it helped me making my phone heat up less. so why are you worried.....
I use common sense. but you don't read them. this is USER opinions and reviews page. You should not come here and write B.S.
NOW I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO FURTHER REPLY TO YOU. its of no use and is turning into a bad fight going nowhere. why do you say the same thing again and again. that sony htc samsung all don't say don't do ota. but kies is always better to it downloads whole firmware and hence all files are new and error free.

But that captures very low detail photos and have very less size like 400kb against over 3mb photos of genuine camera. hence this can't be considered a good replacement. but it has photo sphere. hence I keep it.

Rooting is fixing this.
Saw some posts in google wher they have changed some coding n all then got it worked.
Not tht tech savy to work into this and alter those codesn mess phone...so did nt go deep into that.

so when I try to join it says Saved,Secured and ntng else.
:( really frustrating at times.
So I thought it may b due to something from cache.. So as per Anthony I tried wipe cache and tht ended in Errors
...Was taking advises from him since 4 yrs nw, as we both own htc hd2 prior this.

I know the problems you've had connecting to the IBM network, and I don't think there will be a solution from what you say. Either the new modem.bin file on your phone is incompatable with the Firm's network, or vice versa, and they will never 'talk' to each other.

Was your Firmware update an OTA one or did you... more343 MB was the first one I got post I bought my phone.
After that I got few other updates. Second one I did via kies ..so tht was the full 1.6 GB clean update. Later rest all were few mb updates and did OTA.
Am sure that first firmware update made the work network issue. I knw other guys who gave 4.2.2 has issues wit ibm network

Was your Firmware update an OTA one or did you do it using Kies. I ask because 343Mb sounds like a minor update when you consider that a full Firmware upgrade is over 1.6Gb.
Have you tried updating via Kies; there is a difference in size, believe me.

You will find two new apps in the drawer - Camera and Gallery.
Look for the new camera app, the icon is different to the default one.
