Thanks for your suggestion. One of the (many) times i came home with my unit from the service center (the unit was reformatted and the software was reinstalled) i made sure it was running the most recent android version and used it as is (without syncing it with my google account and apps or installing any apps). After a couple or so days, the unit still auto shut off.

I really wish it were just app incompatibility...

Hi all,i want to say to officegirl and also others who have strange problems with their phones to check their applications. Some apps make phones go crazy.I was using an app -quick lock- for 1 year on my HTC ONE X with no issues, just to lock the screen and save some pushes on the button. On the GS4 i was having problems with the screen waking up when there was a light change or movement near the proximity sensor. The funny thing is that it seemed like a normal function of my phone. It took me 3 weeks to discover the problem.I did a hard reset on the phone and it was ok. When i put my apps again it started doing it.I starter uninstalling apps until i found it.Found another app now -tap to lock- and problem solved.Service centers and salespersons can not always help you.Take your problems on your own hands and try to solve them.
                    God bless you

Hi users of Samsung I9505 Galaxy S4,

Have any of you experienced auto shutoff issues with your unit? i have been experiencing this since i purchased my unit last June. The type of autoshutoff i experienced with my galaxy s4 (LTE) requires a battery pull to start up the unit again. From my experience, the autoshutoff happens once or twice a day, particularly after i have used the data or wifi on my phone. Sometimes, the phone shuts off by itself after being on 'sleep mode' for sometime, even if there is no data or wifi running.

i brought my unit to two authorized service centers several times to get it fixed, but the technicians there said that there was nothing wrong with my phone. Both service centers have reformatted and reinstalled the software everytime i bought it there, but the problem persists. When i went to the second service center, i detailed to the staff the problem and the troubleshooting (reformat & reinstall software) that the first service center did, and initially they said that phone's mainboard and battery would have to be replaced (my phone is still under warranty so i do not need to pay for anything). They required me to leave the unit with them for a week, i agreed and when i got the unit back, they told me nothing was wrong with my phone. As for my phone's battery, they gave me back my (old) battery and i had to remind them to replace it since during the diagnostic they said they would. They checked my old battery and replaced it with a new one.

Don't get me wrong, I like my phone, but i feel like i want to give it up due to its unreliability. I cannot tell when it would shutoff. One time, I almost missed an important meeting in the office since the alarm clock i set on my phone did not go off; the phone had shutoff sometime during the night (it was on my bedside table).

The Samsung store i bought it from would not even replace it since any replacement would have to be under the advisement of the samsung service center. in this case, i could not get my unit replaced since the service center did not find anything wrong with my phone.

I did not want to buy a new unit since i have to pay for this phone for one year (i had it on deferred payment on my CC). I paid a premium for this phone, but all i got is a premium headache. Before this, i had used other samsung phones (samsung wave, galaxy s & galaxy s2) and they are still working well to this day (handed down to relatives).

Hi all, just got a Nokia CR200 wireless charging car mount.I was wondering for many days if it was going to be compatible with my GS4 but i took my chances and turned out to be a perfect fit and also charges with no issues.Have in mind that i also have the s charger with the back cover replaced that allows wireless charging.
Will never go back to wires, that's for sure.It is pricey but worth's it.Go for it.
                                  God bless you all

I have had my i9505 for about a month now and I would say it's pretty smooth. What I personally don't like is the bloatware that Samsung has included. I do feel the unit heating from time to time but it's manageable and I do not have an issue with is as of now.

My issue with it right now is when one time I pulled out my headset, the audio jack seems to still think it was in. Initially, it would go on and off thinking the headset was inserted but then eventually it became steady and seems to think the headset is permanently inserted. Initially, I did a factory reset thinking it was a software issue but after doing it twice, it's still there. My current workaround is using SoundAbout to manually direct where the audio goes.

Has anyone had the same issue?
