Claudia , 23 Sep 2010Maybe i am not understanding but at the present moment. wha... moreHi Claudia,
Tablet is important nowadays. You can use is for business or pleasure. It's portable compared to laptops. This Samsung Tab is a bonus, I would say it's a three in one kind of thing ie. Mobile phone, lap top and a desk top.

Hahaha... Oh, when you go to the beach, wear a jacket that says "Samsung pad" on your back :-)

Anonymous, 23 Sep 20107 inch does fit into back pocket comfortably.. before makin... moreBLAND STATEMENT!? And how tight is it gonna be in your pocket huh??? PLUS at 380 grams, thats basically the weight of three cellphones. I have tried the ARCHOS 7 in my pocket so thats a far more CREDIBLE point of reference - and it doesn't work to carry around in the pocket. How can you use a book as an example? A book that size is flexible and doesn't weigh as much. I say it's YOU who speaks drivel.
Archos 7 = 203x107x12; Samsung Galaxy Tab = 190x120x12

Samsung recognized that current applications are not optimized for the Galaxy Tab.
Google already made clear a few days ago and now Samsung can not do anything but accept it and confirm it, Android Market applications are not optimized to run on the Galaxy Tab.
The reason that happens is as easy to understand and Google said it a few days ago is because of the Android version that exists today. Android 2.2 is only allowing maximum screen resolutions of 800 x 400 pixels.

Nice it has a graphics chip onboard. This will be up to par with the ipad or even better. The only stuff left is for developers to port games to android so that this wicked graphics chip could be utilized.

Alu, 23 Sep 2010What size jacket are you talking about that can fit a Galax... moreInside pocket, i'm talking inside pocket man! actualy i tried putting in a book tht evn has 6mm extra wide than d galaxy tab to d inside pocket of d 1st jacket i encounter and, surprise-surprise! IT FIT! and i'm here in asia (whre d people r smaller in avrge). so i guess it'd slide right in to ANY INSIDE JACKET POCKETS of a westrn or a euopean 'n THAT'S A FACT! So, u were saying???
o, n yes u might hv 2 sweep d screen (not scratch, coz it's capasitve touchscreen rmembr?) while browsing d net, but it'd STILL b a whole lot diffrent xperience than browsing on a tiny smartphone screen.
But u'r right about it might not replace my selphone entirely n aftr checking out d archos 101 (tx btw, it's awsome)n i'm either gonna hv this or an archos + a sleek-sexy-bestrated-bestvalue4money-badaplatformed-phone, samsung wave, which i now think would b a fantastic combination 4 any gadget mania.

JoE, 23 Sep 2010R u kiddiNg me?? to go 4 d ipad 4 it's mere size? lol but ... moreWhat size jacket are you talking about that can fit a Galaxy tab??? Its like and A5 notebook or diary. The outside pockets on a blazer, YES but the inside pockets NO WAY. If I still have to constantly scratch away at the screen to pan across the webpage because the screen is small, then IT IS still like browsing on a phone, same level of inconvenience. And yes there have been 7 inch Netbooks, the first Netbook, the original Asus EeePC was 7 inch but the industry standard is now 10 inch, just go to any computer store. IPad is the size of a magazine, any messenger bag or student backpack will swallow it up happily. You like it because its like a phone - but it CANT replace your phone totally unless you are gonna answer EVERY call on your headset and always pull out that whole device to make a call. You STILL have to carry a regular phone. So whats the point? Now you have this tablet filling one pocket, then the other phone filling another pocket - REALLY??? That should be fun. And consider this - if you have to wear a specific piece of clothing to carry this around, how is that different form having to carry a small messenger bag across your chest? Sure it fits in the jacket (side pockets only), but what if you wanna wear a t-shirt? Not so portable now hey? The portability "advantage" of 7 inch over 10 inch simply doesn't exist. It's shrinking down the experience for no REAL benefit. Again I'm no fanboy, I'm just talking comfort for the intended use.

Geek, 22 Sep 2010Kill the iPad? I have heard that before, remember the young... moreDid u evr hear about samsung galaxy s? it's killing d iphones as we speak! (or type:), so i blieve d same fate will go wth d ipad. ithink thr's not a single rational reason 4 some1 2 choose an ipad ovr d galaxy tab. u know tht samsung is planning 2 sell 10mill of d g-tab right? u know tht evn ipad havn't sold tht many? i believe tht right now apple is considering about stopping d production of their precious yet worthless ipad (off course if they don't wanna get broke!). u should b ashame 4 being an ipad supporter!

Okay, after reading the typos on my last post with great HORROR, I'm gonna try keep this post error-free. Just been checking out the new Archos 101 tablet. It comes out in October, check out the link.
http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archos_101it/index.html?country=us&lang=en
Looks cool, 10 inch Capacitive screen, Froyo, full flash, a kickstand and even THINNER THAN IPAD. But it does get me asking a question. If I had a great browser device like that, do I still need an Android smartphone????? Consider this, a young hip trendy type who always carries a hip trendy bag will always have one of these tucked away in that bag and will pull it out when at the coffee shop, on the Metro, at a friends place, the park etc. One thing it doesn't have is 3G, but I can tether it to a cellphone and use that as a modem where wifi is unavailable. So I'm thinking a more sensible combination would be the Archos 101 plus traditional phone like a Nokia C5. I mean, Android smartphones still REFUSE to give us 3G video calls (except one), plus since my internet is now being consumed on the tablet, does the phone really need wifi? Or even a large 3.5 inch screen for that matter? Any place where I WOULD browse wifi is probably also a place where I can sit down and get comfortable. The cellphone browsing is for walking down the street, and will be done over 3G. So the cellphone now concentrates on its old job - calls, sms and mms plus the occasional email viewing, newsfeeds, facebook statuses and of course video calls; while the tablet now handles media (video), books, internet, and productivity. It also means I only have to manage ONE mobile data account, unlike an Ipad 3G solution ( or any tablet with 3G) where I'm paying two data bills, one for the phone and one for the tablet. What am I trying to say? Well, this tablet business may not be so good for the full touch smartphone. Makes no sense to have a tablet AND a HTC Desire, unless of course you are a really loaded geek.

but if u want a tablet just 2 use while staying @home then go ahead to ipad (though regarding 2 it's specs n price i'd still pass!). this g-tab is truly a portable dvice u know, it'd fit right in 2 a jacket pocket (would ipad? i donthinkso!) or u could just carry it in a very small n stylish waist bag or evn a purse (4ladies offcourse). n i guarantee u tht u wouldn't feel like browsing on a smartphone with it, i mean, listen 2 urself, hv u evr seen a 7" smartphone?! d biggst 1 out thr is d dell streak w/5" screen, n tht 2 is considred 2 b closing in 2 tablet size! +f.y.i. thr's still netbooks wth 7" display. so u c, ipad is nevr gonna b way bettr than g-tab, it's nevr evn gonna b bettr!
